In Latin., Script: written in a round humanistic bookhand., and Decoration: 1-line initials are in brown square capitals; punctuated with the punctus, punctus elevatus, and punctus interrogativus; hyphenation is in the same ink as the text.
Manuscript on parchment (goatskin) of 1) Masses for the main feasts of the Temporale from Christmas to Epiphany. 2) Full text (Ordinary and Sanctorale) of the mass for Candlemas. The rubrics prove that the manuscript is for the use of a bishop (Postea pontifex sollemniter cantet; Deinde pontifex dicat; Postea pontifex dicat hanc orationem, etc.).
Description:
In Latin., Script: Copied by one hand in very large Southern Gothica Textualis Formata (Rotunda). The following texts are in a smaller size of the same script: Introit, Gradual, Tract, Offertory and Communion., The space for music staves in Gloria (1 line), Preface, Lord's Prayer and Peace has remained blank. Rubrics in red. The high-quality decoration is unfinished and totally missing in ff. 61-71., and Binding: ca. 1700. Limp parchment, with marks of two pairs of ties. The endleaves, added by the dealer Laurence Witten, are two leaves placed transversally and taken from two different antiphonaries.

Manuscript fragment on parchment leaf (cut in halves in the middle of the height) of Passion of St. Terentianus, bishop of Todi (1 Sept.).

In Latin., Script: Written in Beneventan script., Red headings. Heightening of the majuscules in red and yellow. 5-line initials in same colours., Stained with paste. The outer edge is heavily trimmed and 8 rectangular cuttings have caused important text losses in the outer column., and Used in a binding. On the top of the verso, in the middle and at the bottom of the leaf the offset of texts written on a flyleaf (?) of the binding from which the fragments were taken [to be read with a mirror]. In the inner margin of the same verso is an undeciphered 19th-century inscription.

In Latin., Watermark: var. Briquet 6654 (?)., Script: Copied by one hand in Humanistica Cursiva Libraria under some Gothic influence (occasionally uncial d)., Pale red headings and explicit formulas. The scribe wrote guide-letters but the initials (height: 2 lines) are wanting., and Binding: Fifteenth century. Italian brown morocco over wooden boards bevelled at the inside, blind-tooled with rope interlace and other tools, with some gold. Remnants of two brass clasps attached to the rear cover. Rebacked. On the spine a paper label with the handwritten title "Historia di Publio [sic] Candido". Parchment pastedowns. On the yellow-coloured fore-edge the title "P. Candid*" is inscribed.

In Latin., Ff. 74v-75r contain 20 lines of a prayer: "O sacro sanctissimo ochino di pieta," in an Italic script., Layout: single columns of 14 lines., Script: late Beneventan miniscule., Decoration: Extensive. Many small capitals alternately blue and gold with penwork in red and purple. 30 three-line and rwo-line initials either in burnished gold with purple penwork or dark blue with red penwork; very large illuminated initial on opening page with leafy design and burnished gold outlined in red enclosing formal floral pattern, with full-length bar extending into upper and lower margins., Binding: 16th century limp parchment. Cover is made from a 15th-century portolan chart of part of the Adriatic coast of Apulia (Schøyen Collection title: Portolan map of the Adriatic Coast of Apulia in the kingdom of Napoli from Rinaldo south as far as Port Badisco, including Otranto and inland towns with little hills.) 230 mm x 160 mm (flattened).
