The articles beginning on the extreme right are a night-soil bucket with a fly on the edge, a water kong with a bamboo dipper, a dish pan, dishes, recently washed in cold water, on which a filthy fly is standing guard. The two flies at either end of the float change positions on occasion.

Same as number 7 with the exception that the water is boiled and that the dishes are screened after washing. One dipper is used for raw water and another for boiled. The bamboo bundle contains charcoal. The night-soil bucket is covered.

The majority of both are in suits, except four of the Chinese men who are in military uniform. They are standing and seated in front of a decorated area, the pillars wrapped with a garland, and on the wall behind them are flags, the one on the left being a United States flag.
