Autograph (in part) manuscript, consisting of papers in Italian, English and other languages concerning the contemporary political history and the intellectual and social life of England (f. 1-262), Holland (f. 265-422), Denmark (f. 424-476) and Poland (f. 477-503). The collection includes autograph rough notes and drafts of memoranda, often with extensive revisions, copies and translations of political papers, a few original letters and a few printed papers. The English section includes "Memorie del'ingresso del Duca d'Oranges in Inghilterra e dell'uscita de Giacomo;" sketches of the careers and characters of politicians, courtiers, etc.; memoranda concerning English domestic and foreign politics; a list of "le donne piu belle di Londra;" lists of publications concerning the Popish plot (1679-83) and other books published in England; translations of parliamentary speeches and 11 letters from a Tuscan diplomat in London to Magalotti's secretary, May to July, 1678.

Historical characters include John Pym, Denzil Holles, Sir William Strode, Arthur Heselrige, and John Hampden of the House of Commons, Prince Rupert, Lord George Digby, Robert Bertie Earl of Lindsey, Robert Devereux Earl of Essex, Lord Philip Wharton, Hugh Peters ("from New England"), Isaac Penington Lord Mayor of London, and King Charles I.

Manuscript on paper, in a single hand, of 78 poems by Jane Cavendish. Many are addressed to family members, including one titled "On my sweete brother Charles," another called "On my Noble Uncle Sr Charles Cavendish Knight," and several to her father, as well as others addressed to her sisters, mother, grandparents, and the King and Queen. There are also poems on passion, the "chamber-mayde," and "A noble lady." The manuscript includes a poetic dialogue by her sister, Lady Elizabeth Brackley Egerton, Countess of Bridgewater, titled "A Pastorall," with a cast of witches, country wives, and shepherds, and which is preceded by a verse dedication to their father, William Cavendish, Duke of Newcastle. The manuscript as a whole is prefaced by a dedication by Jane Cavendish to him.
