- "William Eden (right) rushes towards Benedict Arnold (left) who receives him with open arms. Eden's right hand, holding a pen, is on his breast, in his left he holds out a paper inscribed 'Liberty'. From his coat-pocket three documents protrude: 'Commissn to America'; '£6,000 pr Annum', and 'Commercl Negotiator to France'. Arnold, in regimentals, wearing a hat and holding a sword in his right hand, is saying 'Liberty', his eyes turned sanctimoniously upwards.
