These materials were sent to Parker by Major Benjamin Perley Poore. Julius Heinrich Klaproth (1783-1835) was a German linguist, Orientalist, historian, and author. The materials include letters to Klaproth written in German and Chinese, and said to be about the Chinese language.
The notes match cases to the Canton Hospital ledgers (Box 6, Folders 3 and 4), provide details of several of the cases, and give references to Parker's published reports.
Donated by the Mrs. William Warder Cadbury, 1966. Dr. Cadbury arrived in China in 1909, taught at the Canton Christian College, and practiced at the Canton Hospital. A number of snapshots are identified in Chinese. There are three loose photographs.
