Mr. Holliday "took fair occasion to impress on Young Mr. Nichols's Mind how excellent a Father he had, who had declined the high honor of being elected an alderman of London, for the Benefit of his Family & Improvement of his Fortune in Business."
In one letter Hollis says that he loves one of Nichols's sisters and asks, should she consent to marry him, would Mr. and Mrs. John B. Nichols approve. Endorsed on the letter is J. B. Nichols's reply that Hollis is too young and there will be no marriage. The other letters concern engravings and illustrations.
