The former says: "How do you do my Old Friend - pretty warm by this time I suppose, - a long time in business. - how much might you clear now in the course of last Year?" The other answers: "Whats that to you - skant tell - keep no books, what you want to come the Inquisition rig I suppose, an be d------d to you!" He is obese and is stuffing a 'Banke[rs] Book 17[98]' into his coat-pocket. His dog 'Surly' looks round with contempt at the first speaker, and befouls his cane."--British Museum online catalogue
