Most of the letters were sent from O'Keeffe's home in Abiquiu, New Mexico, but the largest group dates from her 1958 extended stay in New York City and Palm Beach, Florida, when she spent time with her newly widowed sister Anita O'Keeffe Young (1891-1985). The letters often include requests for Pilkington to handle domestic tasks, such as shopping for specific items, and mention arrangements for Pilkington's visits to Abiquiu and Ghost Ranch.
