Manuscript fair copy, of dated entries recounting the departure from Liverpool, the shipwreck on the Barbary Coast, the crew's enslavement in northern Africa, and their return to Dartmouth. Many entries concern the work done, foods, illnesses and injuries, and racial and religious differences encountered. The June 16th entry mentions the separation of "the mate and my relation," and the volume also contains, in the same hand, an account of a group separated from the Captain from June to October 1789, signed Jas. Irving Junr., and titled "A very short account of what happened to me after the seperation on the 16th of June 1789."

The text opens with a generalized cosmology, including discussion of the nature of light and of the Zodiac, and mentioning the meteor fireball of March 1719. Scrapbook made by Libbie Maltbie following a vacation trip to Alaska in August, 1909. Maltbie and her husband, Arthur L. Maltbie, and two friends, Hiland P. and Mary Lockwood, travelled to Alaska on the steamship City of Seattle, leaving Seattle, Washington, on August 4, 1909, passing among the islands of southeastern Alaska to Skagway, and returning on the Pacific side, stopping at Sitka, and reaching Seattle on August 15. The scrapbook contains mostly postcards, printed illustrations, and photographs taken by Arthur L. Maltbie, showing towns visited, buildings, natural features, and Indian totem poles and other aspects of Indian life. Photographs, some with the travelers pictured, are captioned in holograph by Libbie Maltbie. Also present are a printed map showing steamship routes, published by the Pacific Coast Steamship Company; a few printed items relating to the City of Seattle; and a narrative written by Maltbie, holograph, 15 p., briefly describing the trip.

Collection of six letters from Asger Jorn to Edouard Jaguer and nine black-and-white photographs. Letters discuss the avant-garde art movements COBRA and the Internationale des Artistes Expérimentaux, artists affiliated with these groups, including Pierre Alechinsky, Corneille, and Christian Dotremont, and other topics. Two letters accompanied by manuscripts on the "Programme de l'organisation IAE" and "Au sujet des qualités artiste...". Six photographs record a 1953 visit by Jaguer to Jorn's studio in Silkeborg, Denmark. In addition, there is a photograph by Lars Bay of a ceramic plate made by Jorn and Jaguer, "La sirène du nord," in the Silkeborg kunstmuseum.

Abstract:
Manuscript, in a single hand, with numerous corrections, of notes on "A General History of the Science and Practice of Music" by Sir John Hawkins. Citations from Hawkins' work are followed by often disparaging commentary upon them; Burney remarks that "Ch. V. Bk. IV is chiefly made up of dry dictionary articles of Biography, loosely littering his Book as if he had been in want of a needle & thread to tack them together," and "Vol. III p. 262 He calls Jno. Okenheim the disciple of Jusquin whereas it is well known he was the master." He includes a list of "Omissions of Composers & Performers who died long before Sr. Jno. published his History & therefore had fair Claims to a Niche in it." The work is interspersed with commentaries on various pieces and composers, accompanied by fragments of musical notation, and followed by a piece on "Dancing," a history of opera and theater titled "Progress of the Musical Drama or opera, at Venice," and another titled "Progress of the Musical Drama at Rome."
