Abstract:: "A copy of a Rowlandson watercolour, see British Museum Satires No. 11111. Two hideous prostitutes stand at the counter of a gin-shop (or vault), each with a glass. A dog sits at their feet. On the left a third and comparatively handsome woman is drinking. An upturned face with a glass to the lips is on the extreme right. On the other side of the counter a stout man fills a glass from a bottle. Behind him are huge casks, one inscribed 'Booths Best Gin'. The place is brightly lit, with heavy shadows. A bunch of metal grapes hangs from the roof, catching the light."--British Museum online catalogue.
