"A burlesqued tailor with a huge paunch and small legs stands in profile to the left, facing a gale and rain, encumbered with a little girl clinging to his neck, and by large roll of cloth under the right arm; he tries to open his umbrella, having placed his cane between his legs; tied to the handle in a handkerchief are books of patterns, which are blowing away, like his wig, hat, and the child's bonnet; his coat, with tape-measure, streams behind him ..." "Below the title: '(i e) Being dragg'd through mud & Mire by your Cockney friend, (who has lately taken-- a -- seat in the Country) to show the improvements! & his ignorance in Farming.' The fat 'cit', wearing top-boots, stands deep in mire, his hand resting on a heap of straw and dung (left); he turns to a file of agonized visitors who are picking their way on stones, saying, "Here's a charming lot of dung for you -- Now tho' you would not think it I made every bit of this dung myself since I came here! & you know that's not long!" A little boy, standing on the heap with a pitchfork, points to a pool, saying, "Yes & that pond was'nt there when papa first came; Papa made all that water too, all himself!" The foremost visitor registers astonishment; the other three are concerned only with the mud. A frightened boy watches the procession. On the right a woman tries to help her husband, a dandy, from mire that is sucking off his boot, and who holds by the hand (but disregards) a small child who has fallen deep in the muck, terrified at the onset of a menacing duck followed by ducklings. The fat hostess, standing before an unmistakable garden-latrine (right), takes his shoulder, saying, "Never mind my husbands nasty dung--come this way Mr B, & I'll show you my Grotto & Waterfall!" She points to water gushing into a pool from a tiny artificial cave on which stands a Venus pudica. This is flanked by little arbours (each surmounted by a flower-pot which indicates the scale) and each containing a seat. A dove-cot is surmounted by the figure of Harlequin or Mercury holding a purse. Behind are small trees, a haystack, and the roof of the house."--British Museum online catalogue

"Wellington sits behind a small cloth-covered table flanked by eight other representations of himself, as depicted in recent caricatures, apparently all by W. Heath. The arrangement is evidently that of Charles Mathews' 'At Homes', see British Museum Satires No. 14714, &c., Wellington, like Mathews, being in propria persona at the table. In this guise he wears the robes (indistinguishable from Coronation robes) and collar of the Garter and the order of the Golden Fleece and a (crown-like) ducal coronet; his head is turned in profile to the right. Immediately below him, the head and hands of another Wellington, who is crouching on the floor, project from the tablecloth; he grasps a royal crown, and wears a cap coloured blue and resembling a tam-o'-shanter, but perhaps intended for a coronet. The other Wellingtons, all standing (left to right): [1] A mute as in British Museum Satires No. 15501, in profile to the right. [2] A Grenadier, full-face and rigidly at attention, much as in British Museum Satires No. 15768, but without the musket. [3] A ratcatcher stooping to the left and touching his hat, the cage in his left hand (cf. British Museum Satires No. 15806). [4] Aged and cloaked, wearing spectacles, with bowed head, he clasps a cross in both hands. [5] The old woman in a soldier's coat of British Museum Satires No. 15721, facing, and apparently in angry altercation with, the seated Wellington. [6] The coachman of British Museum Satires No. 15731, in profile to the left, holding shaft and lash of his whip as if they were the reins of a four-in-hand which he is driving. [7] Wellington in uniform, directed to the left, wearing his plumed cocked hat and holding up with a furtive expression a sword with a damaged blade in a dilapidated scabbard. [8] A mummy-case with an aperture to show Wellington's head with the forefingers compressing his mouth; below the aperture is the word 'Mum'. (Apparently from a satire on Wellington's silence as to his intentions on Catholic Relief until the eve of the opening of Parliament, see British Museum Satires No. 15659.) "Nicholas I, in uniform with plumed cocked hat, rides (right to left) a gigantic Russian eagle, his sword raised to slash. The eagle holds in one of its beaks a round wicker coop which it drops over a turkey crouching on a grassy slope (left). From each predatory beak a cloud issues, inscribed WAR in large elaborate letters. The heraldic bird is very much alive, one claw clutching a sceptre, the other an orb. The Tsar stands in his stirrups; his saddle is superimposed on the shield on the bird's breast on which is a mounted knight in armour with visor down and sword raised. To the shield are appended eagles and other emblems. Far below (right) is a snow-covered plain where tiny Cossacks gallop with levelled spears, chasing Turks, The sky is filled with flame and smoke from blazing buildings. On the left from among the smoke emerges the dark silhouette of a profile bust of Napoleon; he says: Europe look well to this beware of the Kelmuc [sic]."--British Museum online catalogue
