- Manuscript on parchment (hair side mottled) of Suetonius, De vita Caesarum.
- Description:
- Binding: Fifteenth century, Italy. Resewn on four supports and rebacked. Edges yellow. Covered in brown leather over wooden boards, blind-tooled with concentric frames alternately filled with rope interlace. A triple cross in the central panel. Badly cut tools and impressions burned into the leather. Four fastenings, the catches on the lower board., Floral border in lower margin, pen inkspray with flowers in blue, red, green and pink, and gold balls, surrounding a wreathed medallion with unidentified arms (azure 3 bendlets argent, a chief or with 3 birds sable beaked and membered gules) and the initials VI and M (arms and initials are later additions), on a parchment ground. 12 illuminated initials, 8- to 6-line, gold. Some against green and red grounds with yellow and white highlights, filled with yellow shaded white vine-stem ornament against blue, green and red grounds with white and yellow dots. Other initials on blue, green and red grounds with yellow shaded white vine-stem ornament, yellow and white dots. Initials on ff. 1r, 26v, 83v, 119r, 140r, 170r are enclosed within faceted rectangular frames. Headings and marginal notes by original scribe in red., Illuminated title page with partial border in upper and inner margin, white vine-stem ornament against vibrant blue, green and red ground with white dots and gold balls, terminating in pen inkspray with gold balls and large blossoms, yellow and red with gold highlights in upper margin, blue with white highlights in inner margin. Inner margin interrupted by a scrolling banderole (no inscription) in blue and red with white highlights., and Script: Written by a single scribe in a round humanistic script that inclines slightly toward the left.

- Description:
- Binding: Nineteenth century, England. Bound by Zaehnsdorf (London, 1842-1930) in brown goatskin, blind-tooled, with gold-tooled spine "Cicero" and "MS". Yellow edges. Discoloration on early parchment endleaves reveal traces of corner tongues., Blanks at end not digitzed., Script: The manuscript was copied by two scribes who exhibit distinct formats and scripts reflecting the transition from gothic to humanistic types of book production. Scribe I) ff. 1-107r, line 14. Written in a very fine early humanistic bookhand, above top line. Scribe II) ff. 107r, line 15-135r. Written in a semi-gothic script, below top line, in a style of writing similar to that used by Coluccio Salutati; strong gothic influence in forms of majuscules., and Twenty-three illuminated intials of fine quality, 6- to 2-line, yellow on rectangular bright blue grounds with narrow black frames. Grounds filled with restrained and stylized thin white vine-stem ornament and intricate white filigree. Most spaces for rubrics left unfilled.

- Manuscript on parchment of 1-2) Registrum brevium. 3) Novae narrationes (in Anglo-Norman). 4) Part of an article of indenture (13 lines; 18th-century hand), in English, concerning William Jenninges of Birmingham.
- Description:
- Binding: 15th-16th centuries. Original sewing on four double, tawed cords laced into flush wooden boards. The covering extends over the endbands and is sewn around them. Traces of a secondary embroidery. Spine lined with tawed skin extending to outside of boards. Covered with tawed, cream-colored skin. A brass catch on the lower cover and traces of a clasp attachment on the first few leaves. Lower board detached, upper board and most of the spine covering wanting, probably for some time., In Latin and Anglo-Norman., Lower half of ff. 33, 78 torn; large portions of text stained and illegible., Script: Written in small, cramped anglicana by one scribe., and Twelve illuminated initials (crudely drawn and much rubbed), in dark red, blue, gold, green, and orange, with simple borders extending the length of the folio. Paragraph marks in blue or gold throughout.
