Marriage contract, manuscript, ink on paper, dated 2nd of Nisan 5597 at Vidin (1837). Two columns of text, one for the terms of the betrothal (erusin) and one for the marriage (kidushin), both signed by the same two witnesses. One of the witnesses signed with the decorative flourishes that are typical of sephardic rabbis. On the left side there is additional text at the bottom, presumably enumerating the dowry, although the word lista is missing. The text is written in Sephardic script. The document is scalloped at the top. The decorated six cornered star at the center above the text contains a very short statement that the bride and groom stood under the canopy on a Friday. In the triangles of the star are abbreviations of blessings for the bride and groom. On either side of the star are also blessings for the bride and groom.
