Briquet 7918 (?); other (scissors and scale)., Script: Copied by two hands: Section I in unusual Humanistica Cursiva Libraria with the features of Humanistica Semitextualis; Section II in Humanistica Cursiva Libraria., Pale red headings in Section II only (the headings in Section I are in black ink). Pale red paragraph marks. 2- or 3-line pale red plain or slightly decorated initials, with guide-letters in the left margin., and Binding: Eighteenth century. Half leather over cardboard, the paper covers decorated with a lozenged pattern of black and red dots. - In Italian., Script: copied by a single hand in Italian Hybrida Libraria/Currens (Mercantesca); the final lines, on the singleton f. 25, are in a more rapid hand. There is space for 3-line initials (a 4-line initial on f. 1r) at the opening of the sermons, but these have not been executed. The headings open with a decorative majuscule S(ermone). Otherwise the manuscript is undecorated., Ps.-Augustinus Hipponensis (Pseudo-Augustine), Sermones ad fratres in heremo, Italian translation of a small selection of the sermons by Agostino da Scarperia (c. 1320-end of the 14th century). Our manuscript contains the first eight sermons only., and Binding: sewn on, no covers.

- In Latin., Script: Written by a single scribe in an informal gothic bookhand, below top line., Initials for major text divisions in red with designs on parchment ground, 18- to 4-line, and some (e.g., f. 28r) with modest penwork designs in red and/or black. Small plain initials, 3- to 1-line, rubrics, and paragraph marks, in red., and Binding: Nineteenth century, Italy. Quarter bound in tan paper with semi-limp paper sides. Written, in ink, on spine: "De Scientia/ Loquendi/ Tacendi/ Manos" and "Albertani/ Pergomena". On parchment leaves at front and rear: rust stains from five bosses and 2 fore-edge fastenings of an earlier binding.

In the lower margin arms of the Pesaro family of Venice (per pale indented or and azure), framed by scrolling acanthus, green, red, blue, and pink. Plain initials and paragraph marks both alternate blue and red. Headings in red., and Binding: Nineteenth century, England. Light brown leather, gold-tooled. Gilt edges. Rebacked. - In Latin., Script: Written in bold humansitic cursive script that slopes toward the right by a single scribe, above top line., Illuminated title page, severely rubbed and stained, with full border, white vine-stem ornament on red, blue, green and gold ground with white dots, in inner border with ribbon interlace. In lower border wreathed medallion within narrow gold bands, supported by two haloed angels, one dressed in green, the other in red; central shield of medallion blank. Included in border are a standing and a seated putto. Historiated initial, 6-line, gold, with a portrait of St. Ambrose seated at a lectern and reading, against a blue sky. 8 illuminated initials, 5-line, in gold against blue, green and red grounds with white dots and white vine-stem ornament extending into the margins to form partial borders. Headings, running titles and foliation (Roman numerals), in red., Many pages stained with some loss of text; f. 220r-v mostly illegible., and Binding: Nineteenth century, France. Brown goatskin with the arms of comte Chandon de Briailles gold-tooled on both sides. Edges, headcaps, and doublures also gold-tooled.

- In Italian., Script: the main section is copied by a single hand writing Southern Gothica Textualis Libraria; the headings in Southern Gothica Semitextualis Libraria. The Prayer to the Virgin is in Semitextualis under Hybrida influence; the two final Latin quotations in a large decorative impure Textualis Formata. The Pseudo-Bernard is in small rapid Italian Hybrida, the Latin Psalm verses in a larger and more formal form of the same script, with large opening majuscules. In the main section headings and stroking of majuscules in red; 1- and 2-line plain red initials half inserted, with large guide letters in the margin; a 3-line similar initial on f. 2r. The text opens with an outline initial in black., Manuscript on paper of a number of ascetical treatises and prayers, including: 1) Pseudo-Bernard of Clairvaux, Octo versus. 2) Aegidius O.S.B. (frate Gillio), De aedificatione animae, or Liber virtutum, translated from Latin into Venetian and from Venetian into Tuscan. 3) Andrea da Pistoia O.P., Epistola a un amico. - In Latin., Script: copied by one scribe writing Humanistica Cursiva Libraria with uneven speed. Headings and the opening words of sections are generally written in Capitalis., and Binding: early quarter binding: leather boards, the leather fixed with a strip of brass to the front and rear board. Remnants of two clasps, attached to the rear board by means of small quadrangular brass plates, and clutching on the front board in two brass catches in the shape of large decorated rosettes. The hinges are strengthened by means of strips cut from a s. XIV manuscript in Southern Textualis Libraria.
