"From two huge green bags, pear-shaped and broad-based, emerge respectively the heads of the King and Queen. They stand on the surface of a table forming the base of the design. The King's bag (left) is the larger; with averted head he looks sideways at his wife with an expression of terrified fury. She looks towards him with demure provocation. He wears a crown, she a triple ostrich plume in her hat to show that she is denied her status. Round the vast girth of the King's bag is a buckled garter; round the Queen's a blue (Garter) ribbon (cf. British Museum Satires No. 13802) inscribed '. . . Droit. Honi . Soit. Qui . Mal. y . Pense.' In a room in Carlton House the 'Greeks', or Foxites, superintend the obeisance of the Persians' or Grenvilles before the 'rising Sun' of the Prince of Wales. On the extreme left stands Thurlow ('Achitophel'), turning his back on the others with a morose frown. He is bearded, and wears old-fashioned dress with a tie-wig. In his pocket is a paper: 'Secret Advice to his R H No Respecter of Persons to invite Tag Rag & Bobtail to dine'. Next (left to right) stand Foxites: Norfolk, Windham, Fox (with a satisfied smile), and Sheridan who touches the shoulder of the kneeling Lord Grenville, saying, "lower my Lord". Next Grenville is the spectacled Marquis of Buckingham kneeling very low, and pressing down his son, Temple, who kneels immediately in front of the two brothers. Four others, all in back view (as are all the 'Persians' except Buckingham), and all with identical bag-wigs, kneel before the rays of a large sun. These rays are surmounted by the Prince's feathers and strike a solid mass of cloud above which are the (obscured) Royal Arms, supported on a motto: 'Auspicium [meli]oris Ævi'. All watch the antics of Canning, dressed in parti-coloured clothes as a merry-andrew or buffoon. He kneels on the dais at the King's feet, arms flung wide; at his feet is a high-crowned hat with a peacock's feather; on the back of his tunic are the letters M P and P C. He declaims: The delight of the Nation at the Celebration of your Majesty's Coronation, the Exultation throughout the Creation exceeds all Imagination. the Expectation to which the Anticipation of this Consumation has given occasion is beyond Contemplation; we offer the Oblation of our Congratulation, without Hesitation or Trepidation; no Tribulation can effect a Cessation of the Sensation which pervades every Station; no Situation in whatever Deprivation will utter an Execration for the Association are in Preparation to effect an Extirpation of all Defamation. "A lady stands at her dressing-table (right), her hair in an enormous pyramid decorated with feathers torn from a peacock, an ostrich and a cock. A young girl wearing a hat holds the peacock by a wing; another wearing a cap tugs hard at one of its tail feathers (which are very unlike peacock's feathers). An ostrich (left), which has lost most of its tail feathers, is about to pluck out those which ornament the lady's hair. A cock stands in the foreground (right), having lost almost all its tail feathers, many of which lie on the floor. A black servant wearing a turban stands on his mistress's right, handing feathers from a number which he holds in his left hand. The lady, who faces three-quarter to the right, is elaborately dressed in the fashion of the day. Her pyramid of hair is decorated with lappets of lace and festoons of jewels as well as with feathers. "Alderman Wood, as a zany at a fair, stands on a platform outside a booth addressing a crowd of spectators, half length figures in the foreground forming the base of the design. He points with his right thumb to the Queen (left), who is ready to perform, dressed much as in British Museum Satires No. 14103 but more grotesquely. On the right are Brougham and Denman, as beefeaters, with the letters 'C R' on the breast, but with legal wig and bands; each has a trumpet; that of Denman, who blows it, has a banner 'Solicit you in General'. Wood has ass's ears, wears a fool's cap and red and yellow gown (see British Museum Satires No. 14122) over his suit, with big jack-boots. Under his arm is a bulky rolled document; he holds out a placard: 'Signora Diable Humbuggina now exhibiting with most astonishing Effect.' His words are etched on a big tricolour placard above his head: 'Now then Ladies and Gemmen, here ye has Signora Diable Humbuggina, the most wonderfullest conjuress that ever vas seed at home or abroad. The most perfect Amphibrous Nondescript Hannimal that was ever seed before or behind. Their booth is garlanded with fairy lights and surmounted by a cap of Liberty. In the background on left and right are other attractions of the fair. A beefeater with 'G.R' on his breast blows his trumpet outside a booth flying a Union Jack, and inscribed 'Here's your Works. All from Nature. No connexion with the Jugglers.' Outside it are pictorial placards, all of animals with human heads: an ass with the head of Lieut. Hownam, a creature with the head of Bergami, and an ape with the head of Wood as in British Museum Satires No. 14131. Visitors crowd towards it. Before it is a woman in a swing. On the right are two tents, one inscribed 'Good Strong Caroline Brandy', the other flying a tricolour flag inscribed 'Ale and strong liquors'. In the centre foreground stands John Bull, pointing up at the Queen, and addressing the gaping and amused spectators around him. "Alderman Wood, as a zany at a fair, stands on a platform outside a booth addressing a crowd of spectators, half length figures in the foreground forming the base of the design. He points with his right thumb to the Queen (left), who is ready to perform, dressed much as in British Museum Satires No. 14103 but more grotesquely. On the right are Brougham and Denman, as beefeaters, with the letters 'C R' on the breast, but with legal wig and bands; each has a trumpet; that of Denman, who blows it, has a banner 'Solicit you in General'. Wood has ass's ears, wears a fool's cap and red and yellow gown (see British Museum Satires No. 14122) over his suit, with big jack-boots. Under his arm is a bulky rolled document; he holds out a placard: 'Signora Diable Humbuggina now exhibiting with most astonishing Effect.' His words are etched on a big tricolour placard above his head: 'Now then Ladies and Gemmen, here ye has Signora Diable Humbuggina, the most wonderfullest conjuress that ever vas seed at home or abroad. The most perfect Amphibrous Nondescript Hannimal that was ever seed before or behind. She has exhibited her Genus to all the crowned Potentaties, and all the principalest Men in all Europe including the Day of Alljeers [Tunis, see British Museum Satires No. 12810] von o' the best Judges in this here Universe. This here living vonder o' the vorld can conjure dunghill grubs and Knights of all sorts [see British Museum Satires No. 13810], ride a Donkey [see British Museum Satires No. 14015] a Zebra [see British Museum Satires No. 14110] and her high-horse at von and the same time. Sleep 40 days & nights under the same Tent vith a man, and never be wicious [see British Museum Satires No. 13818]. The Queen, very décolletée, with an over-dress displaying frilled and spotted drawers or trousers, wears a barn-stormer's crown with towering peacocks' feathers. At her feet is a notice: 'Juggling taught in all its branches'. At the feet of the beefeaters: 'Books of the travels of this wonderfull Phenomenon to be had within'. Their booth is garlanded with fairy lights and surmounted by a cap of Liberty. In the background on left and right are other attractions of the fair. A beefeater with 'G.R' on his breast blows his trumpet outside a booth flying a Union Jack, and inscribed 'Here's your Works. All from Nature. No connexion with the Jugglers.' Outside it are pictorial placards, all of animals with human heads: an ass with the head of Lieut. Hownam, a creature with the head of Bergami, and an ape with the head of Wood as in British Museum Satires No. 14131. Visitors crowd towards it. Before it is a woman in a swing. On the right are two tents, one inscribed 'Good Strong Caroline Brandy', the other flying a tricolour flag inscribed 'Ale and strong liquors'. In the centre foreground stands John Bull, pointing up at the Queen, and addressing the gaping and amused spectators around him. He is a plump respectable countryman, his words engraved below the title: 'Why dang-it I tell ye that ere business be all Impositioning like--Do na g'in, I mysel war taken in tother day; but blow my wig if I ha any more to do wi that shew like.--do na g'in, It be all my eye [cf. Between 1843 and 1853 she privately published three volumes of Photographs of British Algae, considered to be the first book illustrated with photographs. She and Anne Dixon were close friends and collaborators., Anne Dixon (1799-1864) was an English botanist and photographer. She was raised by John George Children, father of Anna Atkins, and in 1837 married Henry Dixon, who became vicar of St. Andrew's church in Ferring. She and Anna Atkins were close friends and collaborators. She was the aunt of Captain Henry Dixon., Captain Henry Dixon (1824-1883) was the nephew of Henry and Anne Dixon. "Persons standing in conversation at a party. The principal figures are two elaborately dressed ladies of plebeian, elderly, and unattractive appearance who face each other; one holds a card, the other a fan. Their hair is awkwardly dressed in the enormous mounds then fashionable, see British Museum Satires No. 5370, &c. On the left a short, fat, and awkward footman brings in a tray on which is a triple stand of jelly-glasses, a foaming tankard of beer, &c. The other guests are men; one wears a furred alderman's gown. In the centre of the back wall is a picture of a man with a distraught expression dressed as a seaman or working man, who is being devoured by two lions, one on each side. Above his head are the letters 'S.P.Q.L.' On the back of the print a note in a contemporary hand explains this as "Senatus populusque Londoniensis the Aldermen and Commoners of London". "Burdett in armour stands with legs astride, sword raised, left fist clenched, making an onslaught on a book which is on the ground, its pages slashed and tattered. On these are fragments of inscriptions: 'Red Book for the . . .'; 'Treasury'; 'Pensions' [twice]; 'Pensions 4000, 3000, 2.400'; 'Teller o the Ex[chequer] . . . 6000 4.000'; 'Sinecu[res]'. He declaims: "I will not stop, - till I have cut out the accursed leaves of the Red Book!!!" His sword-blade is 'Took's Improved Steel'. On the right Tooke peers at him, holding aside a curtain; he says: "Come Come my pupil goes on better than I expected - very indeed for a beginning yes - yes - he'll do after a little practice" [see British Museum Satires No. 10731, &c.]. He holds a book: 'Diversions of Purley' [see (e.g.) British Museum Satires No. 9020]. "Lady Conyngham sits on a chair under which crouches the King; his head, larger than life, draped by her skirts, and hands project (left). She holds a fan, on which is depicted the 'Regent's Bomb', see British Museum Satires No. 12799, with (?) the King seated astride it. In her left hand is a tulip. She wears evening dress, jewels, and feathers. On the back of her chair is a (baron's) coronet. She says: "You're Old Quarters how do you like now, My Angel."
