- A scene of a busy market in the West Indies with enslaved, free Africans, and white mingling amongst the vendors: The Black vendors are seated on the ground with their wares displayed around them, including produce (mellons, pineapples, bananas, etc.), livestock (goats, pigs, poultry, etc.); one man (left) is holding a lizard (iguana?); a little boy holds a bird on his finger. One woman carries her chickens and a piglet in a basket balanced on her head. Customers, both Black and mixed-race, mingle with vendors. White women with umbrellas and white men wearing hats walk among the vendors; a horse and carriage and buildings are in the background

- A gentleman sits on a barrel in a farm yard playing his trumpet. The pigs, chickens, geese, a cat and dog and the run away in terror; a cow looks on the scene with a worried expression; chickens on the roof line of an outbuilding look as if they are about to take flight like the doves leaving the dovecote that is tumbling down in the background. The farmer in a smock and his family and dog also run away in the distance

- "Mounted yokels, riding right to left, make havoc in a farm-yard. One only wears uniform; he shouts at them from the right, with upraised hand. A man riding a horse with blinkers fires a blunderbuss, shutting his eyes; he damages a pigeon-house and kills pigeons. He is riding up to a well in which a terrified man has sought shelter, clutching the rope and looking over the top. Two other inexpert horsemen use clubs, one a flail, one a pitchfork. A witch-like old woman holding a broom lies on her back; her basket of cocks and hens has been overturned and the birds escape. A bull and a bulldog face each other belligerently.
