Manuscript on paper of St. Antoninus of Florence, Summa moralis (extracts on sins, virtues and vices arranged thematically).
Description:
In Latin., Watermarks, buried in tight binding: unidentified flower., Script: Written by multiple scribes in small informal styles of gothic bookhand with humanistic features, below top line., Decorative initials, 9- to 5-line, for main text divisions, blue with red penwork designs (red much faded); headings, initials (5- to 3-line), paragraph marks in bright red; initial strokes in yellow., and Binding: 17th-18th centuries, Northern Italy. Resewn and bound in alum tawed pigskin, blind-tooled. Lower board cut in for the strap. The boards and cover are probably early (15th century) and reworked and reshaped to fit the text block, given the large number of later blank leaves inserted at end of text and the way the text block appears to have been trimmed at the tail and the new endbands added. In addition, the title written twice, 15th century, on upper cover ("Rationale diuinorum offitiorum" of Guilielmus Durandus) does not correspond to the present text. Title, written in ink, on a square paper label on spine mutilated and largely illegible. Strip of liturgical manuscript with musical notation, 15th century?, used as spine lining.

Description:
In Latin., Watermarks: unidentified letter (?), in gutter., Script: Written in a calligraphic and sometimes flamboyant humanistic cursive script by a single scribe, below top line., Large decorated initial, f. 2r, 16-line. Body of initial formed of intricate interlace bands, yellow and brown washes, against paper and yellow and brown ground; exhibits strong shading. Display script in red and blue. Rubrics (pale red) in text in humanistic bookhand., and Binding: Fifteenth century, Italy. Strips cut from a parchment manuscript (text washed) are adhered around the fold of each quire. Original sewing on three kermes pink, slit straps. The parchment sides are sewn with the first and last quires.

Description:
In Latin., Watermarks: mountain, var. Briquet 11663 or 11652?., Script: Copied by one hand in small and even Gothica Hybrida Libraria with very few abbreviations. The Biblical themes with which the sermons open are by the same hand writing a large Northern Gothica Textualis Formata (Textus Rotundus) of mediocre quality., Red headings and 3-line (4-line f. 1r) plain initials at the beginning of each sermon in the same colour., Waterstains in the upper and in a lesser degree in the lower margins, but especially in the fold, where the text in the first part and towards the end of the codex is badly affected., and Binding: Contemporary quarter brown leather and square-edged wooden boards, the leather secured by means of a strip of parchment (largely lost) fixed with iron nails with floral engraved head. Spine repaired in parchment, three raised bands. Remnants of two clasps attached to the front cover; one engraved brass catch preserved on the rear cover. Handwritten title in ink at the top of the rear board, very faded: “Sermones Quadragesimales” (16th century?).

Includes moral quotations and contemporary notes
Description:
In Latin., Script: copied by several hands in Gothica Semihybrida Libraria/Currens, sometimes difficult to decipher, especially in the marginal notes and additions and on the inserted leaflets., Headings, stroking of majuscules, paragraph marks and underlining of biblical references in red. 2- or 3-line plain initials in red, mostly missing. Large flourished initials in red with brown penwork: ff. 2r, 37v, 42v, 61r, 67r, 82r, 109r, 118v, 120v, 144r. Numerous pointing fingers., and Binding: original quarter binding: red leather over bevelled wooden boards sewn on four double thongs, spine lost; the wood covered with white leather; remnants of a leather strap attached to the rear board, with hole for the pin on the front board.
