Abstract:: A monstrous creature representing the new ministry (formed on the day of the publication of this print) is shown in the shape of a fox standing on its right hind leg, with eight heads and no fore legs. The central head on top is that of the Duke of Portland, surrounded by other ministerial candidates. Below the fox's raised tail are the heads of Lord North and Charles Fox; above the former issues a blast of air signed "Coalition." Below the design and on both sides of the title are ten verses beginning, "This many-headed Monster of the Land / At present on one Leg is seen to stand."

Abstract:: "Fox (three quarter length), very obese, stands (left) blowing soap-bubbles from a long pipe, with an expression of calculating complacency; these contain heads of Lord John Townshend and other Foxites. He stands beside a tub of soap-suds (right), inscribed 'Coalition Washing Tub', in which are two heads with closed eyes, one (left) is North, the other is (?) Burke. It stands on a block of masonry inscribed 'Portland Stone' (Portland being the nominal leader of the Coalition). Beside the tub are piles of guineas, some arranged on a paper inscribed 'Devonshire Sope'. The head contained in the bubble which is leaving the bowl of the pipe is exploding; the smoke and flames are inscribed 'Towns End' showing that he is Lord John Townshend. The largest bubble contains a head of the Prince of Wales and is inscribed 'Ich dien'. Between this and Townshend's bubble are six others, containing the heads of Burke, the Duke of Portland, the Duke of Norfolk, Sheridan, Lord Stormont, and Hanger. In the upper left corner is another bubble containing the head of (?) Windham, while a bubble, the lower part only of which is visible, contains a mouth and cheek resembling those of Lord Carlisle in caricature."--British Museum online catalogue.

Abstract:: "A close parody of West's picture, 'The Death of Wolfe' (1771). The three officers supporting the mortally wounded Pitt are (left to right) Burke, Pepper Arden (Master of the Rolls), and Dundas. From Burke's pocket projects a paper 'Reflections upon £3700 Pr Ann.' (The policy indicated by his famous book, see BMSat 7675, &c, had been rewarded by two pensions, see BMSat 8654.) Dundas, wearing a kilt, offers Pitt a glass of wine (in place of stanching his wound); a bottle of 'Port' projects from his coat-pocket. The officer behind holding the British flag is identified by Lord Holland as Chatham and the man who supports him as Powys, noted for his propensity to tears (see BMSat 6642). The White Horse of Hanover (cf. BMSat 8691, &c.) on the flag is more conspicuous than in West's picture, and a scroll inscribed 'Magna Chart[a]' has been added. In the group facing Pitt the place of the Mohawk Indian seated on the ground is taken by Loughborough, half-naked, the purse of the Great Seal replacing the Indian's beaded bag, the mace that of his musket, a bloodstained headsman's axe that of his tomahawk. In place of the beaded headdress is the Chancellor's wig surmounted by a monster with the head of a cock, whose limbs are snakes. The two men who lean forward to Wolfe, pointing back to the messenger with the news of victory, are dressed as running-footmen in livery and hold the long sticks with the head enclosing an egg carried by these men. Ink-pots are slung across their shoulders by bands inscribed 'Ist Treasury Runner' and '2d Tre . . .', showing that they are the two Secretaries to the Treasury, George Rose and Charles Long. Grenville, in peer's robes, stands between Lord Mansfield and Windham, who supports him. In place of West's handsome young officer who runs up with the French flag is a man with the face of a demon holding a tattered tricolour flag inscribed 'Libertas', its shaft broken. A large bonnet-rouge lies on the ground. The couple who stand on the extreme right watching Pitt with clasped hands are Richmond and a man with a wooden leg. Richmond, in general's uniform, his bald head contrasting with the luxuriant hair of West's corresponding figure, has a cannon slung to his back to indicate his Mastership of the Ordnance (cf. BMSat 6921, &c.) in which, however, he had been succeeded by Cornwallis (Feb. 1795), see BMSat 8341. His weeping companion has been identified as Wilberforce, though his wooden leg might indicate Brook Watson, Commissary-General (see vol. vi). The background differs from West's picture. In place of the confused fighting and the smoke which surrounds the Heights of Abraham, the Ministerial cavalry advance in even line, rank upon rank, and put to flight a small body of sansculottes with bonnets-rouges (left). Abstract:: "A dog with the head of Sheridan is being chased out of the gate of Devonshire House by the Duke of Portland and other leading whigs. He flees 'To Carlton House', a signpost (left) pointing the way. His collar is inscribed 'G.P.', to his tail is tied a large architectural drawing of Drury Lane, showing the new front to Bridges Street added to Garrick's theatre by R. and J. Adam. The foremost of the pursuers is Portland, about to hurl a stone; Fox follows, holding out his hands pleadingly to the fugitive. Burke holds a club inscribed 'Shelaly', and clenches his fist fiercely. Next him is the short Lord Derby (left), and on the right the Duke of Norfolk. Lord Stormont holds up his hat as if to hurl it. Abstract:: "A design in two compartments, one above the other, the title between them. In both a pack of hounds with human heads chases a crowned stag; in one the stag is George III, in the other (below) Louis XVI. [1] The stag (left) is beside a signpost pointing 'To Windsor', [written in ink] Windsor Castle appearing on the extreme left. The huntsman (right) is the Prince of Wales riding on the heels of the last hound, his whip outstretched. The foremost hound, who has almost reached the stag is Sheridan, next is (?) Lord Sandwich, or perhaps the Duke of Queensberry, next Fox. [The head has a feminine appearance, and has been identified by Grego as Mrs. Fitzherbert. But black eyebrows and traces of 'gunpowder jowl' indicate Fox, whose absence would be inexplicable.] The next pair are a judge (? Loughborough) and Powys. The last two are Burke and Lord Stormont. Beside the Prince, his back to the other dogs, and urinating as a sign of contempt, is Pitt, turning his head to scowl up at the Prince. [2] The names of the hounds have been written in a contemporary hand beneath the print. The stag (right) has been reached by the hounds, three of whom are biting him. He has passed a signpost 'A Versailles'. The foremost hound is 'M. de Limon'; close behind are 'Le Baron de Talleyrand' furiously biting the stag's shoulder, and 'Le Comte de Vauban'; the next two, 'Le Comte de La Touche' and 'le Marquis de Sillery'. The last two are women: 'la Comtesse de Blot' and 'la Comtesse de Buffon' who wears feathers in her hair, and turns her head to gaze at Orleans, the huntsman, whose mistress she was. Orleans rides a clumsy hack, blowing a horn, and is dressed in the French manner, with the boots and whip of a French postilion (in place of his accustomed English riding-dress).
