The authors write in response to Millet's request for information while preparing his books: Contemporary British Literature: A Critical Survey and 232 Author-bibliographies (New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1935) and Contemporary American Authors: A Critical Survey and 219 Bio-bibliographies (New York: Harcourt, Brace, 1940). Correspondents include: Sherwood Anderson, Gordon Bottomley, John Dos Passos, Edna Ferber, F. Scott Fitzgerald, H.
