Abstract:
The new ministry is depicted on a large carousel, erected in front of the "Crown and Royal Bob" Inn. The structure is supported by a center pole held in place by pegs labelled "Treasury," "Navy" and "Army" terminating at the top with the head of the King in the form of a wig block. Fox, with a fox's head and tail, leads the procession, holding a bag of money. Behind him, Lord North on a horse with its legs cut short, loses his wig; Burke in Jesuit's habit and on a similarly lame horse, has partially turned into a skeleton due to his economical reform; Admiral Keppel behind him is desperate to remain seated on his donkey. Lastly a Scotsman labelled "President" signifies Scottish influence over the Crown. Watching from a seat before the Inn, a complacent John Bull mouths slogans of liberty, unaware that his house is being plundered behind him

"Whitefield preaching to a group of country-people by the roadside. A sign, a lion rampant on a post with the chequers which denote an alehouse, shows that the scene is outside an inn. Whitefield, his squint very pronounced, stands in gown and bands, both arms raised, in the attitude familiar from the mezzotints in print-shop windows, see British Museum satire 5220. Some of his hearers, men and women, clasp their hands in prayer, some kneeling; others grin slyly or scowl. Immediately in front of him an elderly man seated on a mounting-block, is asleep, his head resting on the head of his stick. A woman with three infants is seated in the foreground (left). A pot-man (left), his sleeves rolled up, holds out a foaming tankard, either to the preacher or to one of the audience. Behind, in front of the signboard (left) is a countryman on horseback. A tavern or inn with a glass and bottle on signboard is to the left of the image. In the foreground men fall off a gangplank attempting to get into boats, while a crowd of onlookers fills the background
"A girl, in profile to the left, seated on the box-seat of a four-wheeled cart drawn by a pair of horses. She is receiving a driving-lesson from a man who sits behind her on the edge of the cart in which is a sheaf of straw. On the side of the cart is a board inscribed "Tom Longtrot's Academy for Young Ladies. Driving taught to an Inch, Ladies compleatly finish'd in a fortnight, for Gig, Whiskey, or Phaeton: Single Lesson half a Crown, Five for half a Guinea". The girl holds whip and reins very awkwardly, the hind wheel passes over one of a litter of small pigs which is with a sow in the foreground. A short stout citizen (left) clutches a post or mile-stone in alarm at the prospect of being run over. The driver wears an elaborate hat with feathers and a muslin dress, very unlike the dress of the fashionable women-whips of the day, cf. BMSat 6114. Beneath the title is engraved, "Hammersmith Turnpike", and,"When once the Women taken the Reins in hand, 'Tis then too true, that Men have no command." Behind the cart the upper part of the toll-house appears, with the head of a grinning spectator, probably the toll-keeper. By the toll is a large rectangular Georgian house with a square pillared porch inscribed "WILL-SON". This is the inn, The Bell and Anchor, at the corner of Blyth Road close to Olympia"

Abstract:
An innkeeper uses a bellows to clear heavy dense tobacco smoke from the tavern interior in response to a servant trying to identify his master in the crowd. The innkeeper proclaims "You say you want a little gentlemen in a brown wig. I have really so much smoking business in my parlour that 'till I make use of the bellows I can never distinguish a customer, I believe that is the gentleman you mean." The servant excitedly responds in a Cockney dialect "Yes, Yes, sure enough that be Master, but before he vanishes again, tell him that Missis has sent the street door key."

"Fox and Sheridan (left) sit together at the head of a rectangular table on which is a punch-bowl, &c, looking with dismay at whigs (right), who advance to hurl their wigs at a large pile of wigs on the left (inscribed 'The Heads having Scratched out of the Club'), or retire, having already done so. Fox and Sheridan wear enormous wigs, the former says, "Brother: Brother: we are all in the wrong" ... Before Fox is a list with names scored through. Sheridan grasps a bottle of 'Sherry'. A couple advance together, in the act of hurling their large wigs at the pile; one says, "I will Scratch out my Name in hopes of getting in for the City" (probably Nathaniel Newnham, returned for the City 1784, but defeated in 1790, cf. British Museum satires no. 7162). The other is perhaps Windham. The only one of the retiring wigless Whigs who is characterized is Burke. In a tavern, a group of men, several of them with very large bellies, sit around a table with a large punch bowl in the center; they are smoking pipes, some laughing at their companion who has just been struck with a stick by a large woman; others look up in alarm while still others continue to read. In preparing for another strike she accidentally hits the innkeeper wearing an apron behind her as he brings in another punch bowl, which spills as raises his arms. Above the fireplace is picture of a man racing a horse; another print of a horse hangs above the door. Their hats hang on pegs on the walls around the room
