- Alternative Title:
- Femme de Putiphar accuse Joseph devant son mari
- Description:
- Title supplied by cataloger., Text below title, lightly printed and only partially legible: La femme [de Putiphar accuse] Joseph devant son mari., According to Nicholas J.S. Knowles, the handwriting on the plate and a few stylistic clues point to Thomas Rowlandson as printmaker. Knowles posits that Rowlandson copied a print by Caylus (IFF 378(6).II; British Museum online catalogue, registration no.: 1865,0208.6) rather than copying the original drawing formerly attributed to Rembrandt (currently in the Louvre, inventory number: NV 22908, Recto). Rowlandson made a series of reproductive prints after old master prints starting from about 1783, and Knowles suggests an early- to mid-1780s date for creation of this particular plate., and Late-20th century restrike on modern paper, with pencil annotation "TR/RP/80" in lower right that suggests a 1980 printing date. The copper plate would have been in the possession of the successor Leadenhall Press in England at the time, according to Nicholas J.S. Knowles.

- Abstract:
- A collection of 41 printed items that chronical the 1820 plot to murder the Prime Minister, Lord Liverpool, and his cabinet, so named for location where the thirteen conspirators meet near Edgware Road in London. The police learned of the plot through an informer, George Edwards, leading to a police trap in which one policeman, Richard Smithers, was killed, but the plotters were apprehended. Five other conspirators were transported to Australia. The collection includes portraits of the plotters, views of the Cato Street area and the interior of the loft where they were found, broadsides describing the events (some with images), and descriptions of the execution of five of the conspirators. The collection includes a series of portrait prints by Robert Cooper after drawings by Abraham Wivell that were published as illustrations to Thomas Kelly's "The Cato Street Conspiracy" (1820). - Abstract:
- An Etchmaster etching on a copper-plate surface so as to resemble an antique copper etching plate with a reproduction (cropped) of the scene from William Hogarth's 1738 print "Morning," the first in his "Four Times of the Day" series. In the center, a middle-aged woman walks from the left towards St. Paul's church; the clock on the tower showing 6:55. She is followed by a servant boy carrying her prayer book under his arm as he tries to warm his hands in his pocket and jacket. St. Paul's is partially hidden behind a tavern identified by a sign reading "Tom King's Coffee House." In front of the tavern is a fire where two couples embrace as two women warm themselves, the one reaching out to beg of the well-dressed woman. To the left, in the middle distance, a small crowd mulls around the gate
