Photographs of Aspen, Ouray, the Grand River, Georgetown, and Pike's Peak, Colorado, and rail tracks in between, mounted on fifty cardboard leaves. Extensive manuscript annotations and many direct quotes from Ernest Ingersoll's "Crest of the Continent" descibe each page layout

Some photographs are by William Henry Jackson, and have been altered to remove his name and the caption

Ingersoll traveled with the U.S.G.S. in Colorado in 1874.
