George IV, King of Great Britain, 1762-1830, Bedford, Francis Russell, Duke of, 1765-1802, Bunbury, Thomas Charles, Sir, 1740-1821, and Chifney, Samuel, ca. 1753-1807
A satire on the formation of a Tory Ministry by Wellington in 1828. Wellington is shown in the uniform of a Life Guards officer riding his charger over little men made of large wigs -- judges' wigs, barristers' wigs, bag-wigs -- as they flee in confusion. One clings to the strap around Wellington's arm, crying "Hold tight Huskey" (Huskisson). George IV stands in the background, hands on his hips, laughing at the scene

"George IV sits fishing under a little pavilion; his rod is a sceptre, larger than that in Britis Museum Satires No. 15126. He has hooked a frog, which Lady Conyngham, kneeling beside him, is about to scoop with a landing-net. She says: Oh what a beautifull fish! I think its something of the Gudgeon kind, but a most Noble one. A large kingfisher stands on the opposite bank watching them. The King sits on an ornate stool, resting a gouty leg on a smaller one. He wears a bell-shaped top-hat, the plain high-collared coat of recent portraits with knee-breeches. Beside him are creel and bait-box. The pavilion is merely an ornate canopy for his stool, decorated with onion domes like that of the Pavilion, bells, and a crown. Lady Conyngham wears a décolletée dress with long gloves, and roses in her hair. Behind is a realistic view of the Cottage, with a peacock in front of it, and Windsor Castle."--British Museum online catalogue

"A stout lady wearing a tartan scarf supports the Prince of Wales, who is tipsily waving a lighted (and broken) candle, towards the open door of a bedroom (right). He is dishevelled, with ungartered stockings; his left arm is round the lady's neck. She holds a full wine-glass whose contents are spilling. Behind the Prince's back she snaps her ringers derisively at Lady Jersey, who enters (left), in under-garments and night-cap, saying, "I'll discover the Correspondence in Revenge". The scene is a small ante-room between two bedrooms; in it are a table with bottles and glasses at which is an arm-chair. Behind Lady Jersey (left) is a bed over which is a coronet with the letter 'J', in the other room (right) there is a coronet with the letter 'G' above the bed. Lord Jersey's head and shoulders project from under his wife's bed; he looks towards her, saying, "Upon my Honor I don't think he uses us well after giving me all this trouble for nothing!!" On the wall behind the chair is a circular scrawl indicating a picture inscribed 'D. Manchester'."--British Museum online catalogue
