William Pitt, dressed in a tunic tied with "Cestus of virtue" and a helmet inscribed, "Wisdom," and decorated with feathers and laurel wreath, stands between two lion-like beasts with the faces of Lord North and Charles Fox. North rears up as Pitt pulls on his tongue with forceps. On the opposite side, Fox lies on the ground bleeding from his mouth while Pitt holds a heart inscribed, "Indostan," above his body. A crown labeled, "Asia," fallen from Fox's head, lies at Pitt's feet. The title refers to freedom of the City given Pitt by the Grocers' Guild

A belligerent William Pitt and a dejected Charles Fox, each with a cock's body, stand in a cockpit surrounded by their supporters. In the foreground on the left, the King leans against the pit watching his favorite, Pitt. Next to him stands Wilkes, with his hand on the King's back, and Pitt's supporters Lords Nugent, Thurlow, and the Duke of Richmond. Behind them is an enthusiastic crowd of other supporters. Fox is backed by the devil who proposes another round. Among his supporters are Burke in a Jesuit's biretta and a group of Jews, his creditors. In the foreground, Lord North is negotiating with another Jew, upset by Fox's defeat

A dog with the heads of Lord North, Charles Fox, and Edmund Burke stands guard in front of a gate inscribed, "Portland" and probably representing the Treasury. The dog's "Coalition" collar is secured with an "Interest" padlock and decorated with the Prince of Wales's feathers. The inscription on its tail refers to a bag of euphorbium thrown in Fox's face by an opponent. Above the gate, Cromwell's face makes the central keystone in the arch. It is flanked by two axes and two masks with devil's horns: the smiling one is Lord Derby; the scowling one Admiral Keppel
