This panel shows an unidentified older man, whole-length directed to the left, bald, wearing a red robe, leaning on the cane in his right hand and holding a hat in his left hand. A stable housing a cow and a horse(?) is directly behind him; a heraldic shield hands from the roof of the stable. Walpole described this scene as "a person in the act of adoration in a stable" in his Description of Strawberry Hill
