- A ship's boat filled with rollicking prostitutes, cheering and lifting glasses as they are rowed towards a ship on the right extreme left, with guns projecting from port-holes; two women climb on board by a rope-ladder from a boat, watched by sailors and an officer, while from a window of the captain's cabin another woman looks out. Two other ships, one in full sail, are shown on the left

- "On the left: An old sailor with a long pigtail, and wearing an old-fashioned blue coat with gold lace, points with a pointer at a large decoration by Thornhill. He leans against an iron railing, standing on raised stone flags. A corner of the decoration is shown, swirling allegorical figures, nude and partly draped. On the right: The lower left corner of a large heavily framed picture with a man in Roman draperies, and a woman in longer draperies. Two sightseers and a small boy gaze at the wall, the man yawning cavernously. - "Three sailors sitting on trunks on board a ship, grimacing as they read papers. At centre one points to his paper, saying, 'Did you ever hear such palaver Jack - Just before an Action'; his paper is inscribed, 'nothing opposes the individual esteem entertaind for your excellency by your faithfull servant / J Moore / Cadiz'. At left, a sailor reads a paper inscribed, 'I am your Excellrncys most Humble Servant / Rossily'; his trunk is lettered 'Will bo[...]'. At right the third says, 'Be quiet you lubbers, you dont know how to be polite - one of the Mounseers has ax'd me a little time, before I blow him up, and see what a civil letter I have sent him.'; his trunk is lettered 'Junk' and his paper, 'Mounseer / I had the honor of your this morning, and if you don't surrender by six in the evening, I'll be d-d if I dont blow you up / yours / to command / Jack Junk'. On the floor in the foreground, a tankard of 'Grog', a pipe and broadsides, one of which is headed 'True courage'; a cannon behind at left. Reissue by Fores of a print originally published c. - "Three sailors ride away from the sea-shore (right) where a man-of-war is at anchor. All are in difficulties. A fourth is on his hands and knees on the extreme left; he looks up to say: "Mind what you are at Messmates for I am upset, and the frigate I came on board of--has been under weigh, without me this half hour." The foremost, clasping his rearing horse round the neck, looks back to say: "Keep more to the Star-board and be D--d, to you--dont you see how you make my vessel, run a head." The next man is tied to his galloping mount with heavy ropes; and he says: "Here I come my Hearty's --Right and tight,--smart sailing, but never mind that--I cant be cast away for my commander, Heavens bless him has lash'd me to the deck, with some tough Old Cables!" The last sailor's horse kicks with tail erect; he exclaims: "D--n me--how she heaves.
