Title devised by curator., Statement of responsibility and date written in ink on verso, in a contemporary hand., and Mounted on page 193 in a volume containing Horace Walpole's extra-illustrated copy of his Description of the villa of Horace Walpole (Hazen 2523) and his Catalogue of pictures and drawings in the Holbein Chamber at Strawberry-Hill (Hazen 2619.4). Part of the collection: Portfolio containing 50 drawings by Lady Diana Beauclerk and her daughter Mary, Miss Sebright, Miss Knight, Mrs. Damer, John Gooch, Samuel Lysons, Sir Edward Walpole, and Thomas Walpole (Hazen 3641).
A collection of pictorial conundrum cards from various unidentified sets of cards trimmed from larger sheets of etched images; also a single drawing signed "R. Ck." suggesting it is his work on the largest set (incomplete) of 19 cards. The other four sets, also incomplete, are grouped by the similarity in style and letterforms. All cards contain a humorously named person with an image and a riddle. Presumably the sheet from which these images were cut contained the answers to the riddles. Queen Victoria and Sir Edwin Eglinton (the Eglinton Tournament 1839) suggest the possible date of 1840

In English., Title devised by cataloger., Each drawing is signed by the artist in lower left corner either initials or full name., One small pencil drawing of a coffee pot on the verso of the drawing of a dour-looking cleryman., Date based on a watermark on one of the sheets., and Elizabeth Dubuisson was a portrait painter whose work was displayed at the Royal Academy between 1805-40; she also drew "Character Sketches", a series of caricatures on the Mufflechop Family published by Pewtress and Ackermann approximately 1830. She produced additional drawings similar to these four, with ten being held by the Victoria and Albert Museum (accession no.: E.1091-1992).
