A pretty young woman sits on the knee of an officer (left) wearing a gorget and cocked hat. She looks over her shoulder to speak to her elderly husband who leaves the room (right) supported on crutches: "Pray my Dear go and speak to Sir John in the mean while the Captain & I will push the point in this Quarter." He answers: "I'll go this momment. now is the Golden instant so dont be Idle but exert yourselves to have the affair well done & quickly." Over the doorway is a stag's head with antlers.
