Through a grove of shade, the viewer sees in the far distance the town of Richmond as well as boats on the Thames. A path over the bridge leads from the river, past the obelisk and into the shady grove. In the distance, a woman and two men stroll along the path; in the foreground a well-dressed couple stroll towards the house, the man gesturing with his hat
