Ps. 101:10-25., On parchment., Pricked and ruled in pink ink for one column of 18 lines below top line (type 15, 97 x 65 mm.). The last of the vertical row of pricks near the edge of the page is double. Northern Gothica Textualis Formata with Central European characteristics., The decoration consists of line-fillers in blue, red and gold and 1-line dentelle initials in the same colours., and Was folio 96 in a manuscript (pencil foliation s. XIX-XX).
Manuscript on parchment (sturdy) of Calendar; Psalter; Six canticles; and Litany. and Parchment (sturdy), ff. 125 (125 = back pastedown), 196 x 141 (128 x 89) mm. Written in 20 long lines; double horizontal bounding lines, single vertical, all full across. Ruled in ink; prickings (slashes) in upper, lower, and outer margins.
Description:
Script: Written by a single scribe in bold, early gothic bookhand. Notes by several later scribes, some of which have been erased. Full page initial B (f. 2v) in blue with pink and blue interior vine-stem patterns, on gold ground surrounded by red rectangular frame outlined in black. Smaller gold initials, 10- to 8-line, for Psalms 26, 38, 51, 52, 80, 97, 101, 109 (ff. 21r, 33v, 43r, 43v, 53v, 68r, 70r, 83r), of similar design, on blue ground with vine-stem patterns of olive green, white, and red, and rectangular frame of red and white. Other psalms introduced by gold initials, 9- to 3-line, outlined in red, infilled and surrounded by blue penwork designs; headings and first letter of each verse in red. Most decorative initials are severely rubbed.

Reformatio Sigismundi, originally written in 1439 at the alleged instigation of the Holy Roman Emperor Sigismund (1368-1437) for the Council of Basel. The text of Marston MS 273 is the vulgate version (V), composed around 1440. As with other versions, the author of this text is supposedly Friedrich von Lantnau or Lantzenau (see f. 6r), who claims to have undertaken the translation of it into German from the "original" Latin. The identity of this person is still uncertain (see Koller, op. cit., p. 6), and the idea of a Latin "original" is rejected by the editor (Koller, op. cit., p. 17).

Binding: Date? Brown leather over wooden boards, possibly early. Blind-tooled with concentric frames of fillets and a rectangular rope tool. Hearts in a central panel. Four fastenings, the catches on the upper board. Heavily restored., One fine miniature, f. 1r, 23-line, without frame, bishop enthroned under baldachin instructing the clergy; two trees at sides; two birds above. In lower margin, a roundel with a portrait of a student, in a blue, pink and white frame, surrounded by spiral foliage and large gold dots. At the end of the volume, f. 212v, a roundel with a portrait of an older man, with a thick red and blue frame with blue, green, and gold dots. Thirty initials, 16- to 12-line (ff. 1r, 15v, 36r, 45r, 47v, 52r, 59r, 64r, 68v, 81r, 92v, 96v, 100r, 103v, 123v, 127r, 129r, 131r, 137v, 156v, 163r, 163v, 166r, 166v, 172r, 174r, 190r, 190v, 193r, 194r), most with a single, some with as many as three figures, bishops, priests, monks, students, and women, either reading, instructing or debating; in one case, f. 194r, a priest celebrating mass (De consecratione). The figures set against navy blue grounds with white filigree; the initials shaded pink, orange, red, blue and green against square gold grounds with white filigree, framed in black, blue or green; curling foliate serifs attached to bar stems in inner or central margin, interrupted by initials in margin, blue, light blue, grey, pink, orange, red, and black, extending full length of margin; with large spiral foliate terminals with gold dots and flourishes in brown ink, often incorporating roundels, some with additional figures or birds. Numerous small, 4-line, flourished initials, red with blue flourishes and vice versa, as well as red and blue alternating paragraph marks throughout.
