Print shows three fashionable dandies in a well-furnished room. One (left) sings, seated, and with a leg resting on a second (lyre-backed) chair; he leans sentimentally, hand on heart, towards a lutanist reclining on a (Regency) sofa playing an ornate curiously shaped instrument. The third stands behind the sofa, playing a flageolet, and admiring himself in a mirror above the ornate fireplace. The vocalist holds an open music-book: 'Love has eyes.' On the floor beside him are two others: 'The Lovesick Swain set to Music' and 'Our Warbling Notes and Ivory lutes Shall ravish every ear.' Two whole length portraits flank the mirror, one of a lady in quasi-Elizabethan dress, the other of a man similarly dressed, both having pinched waists and full busts. Below one is a picture of 'Vacuna' [Goddess of rural leisure], a blowzy woman lying under a tree; below the other, a grotesque 'Narcissus' admires his reflection. "European sovereigns (wearing crowns) and others, watch a game of billiards between the Tsar, the principal figure, and the Sultan. Nicholas (left), a dandy in uniform, is about to make a stroke which will inevitably pocket the Turkish ball; in the pocket beside him is a ball inscribed 'Greece'. He registers complacent satisfaction. The Turk (right), in ornate Turkish dress and jewelled turban with two aigrettes, stamps furiously, tearing his long white beard. Greece (or the pro-Russian President of the Republic, Capodistrias) stands behind Nicholas on the extreme left, gloomily smoking a long pipe. He wears elaborate national costume, and a cone-shaped cap from which project two long ass's ears; this is surmounted by a chain and padlock and inscribed 'Cap of Liberty presented by Russia'. Charles X bends excitedly towards him, both hands raised; he says: 'By Gar he has pocket your Ball--dat is no good for you.' On the wall a framed map of the globe serves as marking board; the east, north, and west sides are respectively: 'Greece', 'Turkey', and 'India', the last being 'Game'. The pointer is a bayoneted musket. Francis I is marking, his finger on the pointer which has just passed "Turkey" on its way to "India"; he looks down at the table, saying, 'I may as well mark Game.' Frederick William III puts his hand on his shoulder, saying, 'I say Brother Marker, you and I must go snacks.' Seated under this map is Francis I of the Two Sicilies, his arms folded; he holds his crown which is 'Wrapped up--to preserve the NAP'. Between the map and Charles X stands an American, presumably President Jackson, a tall man in civilian dress with a jauntily worn high-crowned hat. He says: 'Pretty considerable--that is I guess how the game will be' [see British Museum Satires No. 14714]. Between the King of Prussia and the Sultan stands Ferdinand VII, as the "Spanish Mule" of British Museum Satires No. 12508, &c., an ass's head, with blinkers and a muzzle, and long ears projecting through his crown. He wears ruff, slashed doublet, &c, and reads a paper: 'Map of Sou[th] Amer[ica]'. In the foreground Wellington (right) sits in a small chair, in profile to the left, his eyes looking apprehensively behind him, his mouth pursed. He wears blue coat and white trousers and holds a cue, the butt resting on the ground; under his chair lies a British bull-dog, gazing up with melancholy intentness. The Duke's shadow forms the silhouette of a soldier standing with folded arms. In the middle distance are notabilities, less directly concerned. The Duke of Brunswick in the uniform of a Death's Head Hussar, with a conical fool's cap with bells poised above his crown, says, 'I'll see Hanover d--n before I ask his pardon.' O'Connell, with a big bag of 'Rent' under his arm (see British Museum Satires No. 14766, &c), says to the Pope, holding out a ticket inscribed 'MP, By der powers father I won two games' [his two returns for Clare, see British Museum Satires Nos. 15538, 15847]. "A head of Wellington in profile to the left, composed of military emblems. The hair is made of laurel leaves; covering the forehead is a flag with a lion rampant and the words 'Vittoria | Salamanca | Waterloo'. The eye is the muzzle of a cannon, with bayonets (for eyebrow), and sabre. The nose is a part of a tent, a fold forming a nostril. Below this is a tiny sentry-box and sentry, resting on a projecting lip, which, with the chin, cheek, and jaw is formed of masonry, from which, at the mouth, two small guns project. The side of the face is partly covered by a Union flag, with spears and a drum for ear, a sabre for the contour of the jaw. "An African chief displays to a naval officer three black women, who stand together (right), grinning and coy, and absurdly squat and obese, with huge posteriors like those of the Hottentot Venus (see British Museum satire no. 11577). The officer, Lieut. Lyon, bows in profile to the right, right hand on his breast, staring with humorous and wary appraisal at the women. The chief, who smiles blandly, seated on a low slab, wears a huge nose-ring, a plume of ostrich feathers, and a sword for which his left ear serves as hilt. Immediately behind him is a bodyguard of four warriors holding tall spears on each of which a skull is transfixed. Two grin, one looks with sour possessiveness at the women. All the Africans are very negroid, and naked except for small aprons. Behind the women are more Africans, much amused. Print shows on the left, a statue of Justice in a niche beneath which a candidate, doffing his hat, offers a purse of money to a voter who replies, "Twill scarce pay, make it twenty more", beside them a gentleman points to the statue saying "Regard Justice" to another carrying a bundle on his shoulder who replies, "We fell out, I lost money by her". In the centre, in front of a large crowd are two candidates, both waving their hats, slip coins into two of the many pockets of a voter's coat; one candidate says, "Sell not your Country" and the voter replies, "No Bribery but Pocketts are free". Further to the right another candidate, saying "Accept this small acknowledgment", offers a purse to a gentleman who grovels on the ground for coins that have been thrown down by the prevailing candidate, from his position on a chair supported by poles on the shoulders of four men. On the right, a statue of Folly in a niche empties bags of coins; before the statue is an altar on which a fire burns, a candidate kneels at its base imploring, "Help me Folly or my Cause is lost"; to the left of the altar, is a butcher crying "See here, see here" and to the right, a classical philosopher, saying "Let not thy right hand know what thy left does", puts his hand behind him to received a bribe from a young man. Beyond is a tavern outside the landlord, wearing horns, calls out "He kist my Wife he has my Vote"; outside the tavern hangs the sign of a bottle with a large globe attached

"Ministers recline on a large low platform, representing a magnificent state bed, which is completely covered with roses. It recedes in perspective from left to right. On the left is Fox, looking sourly over his left shoulder at his neighbour, Sheridan, to say: "This is the most uncomfortable bed I was ever on in my Life and not the least like a bed of Roses - Zound!! what a thorn is running into me - Oh that Bramble - Sherry my Dear how do you find it - ". Sheridan answers: "My dear Charley, I have not had a wink since I have been on it, - curse that Castle man what did he mean by his bed of roses - I am as sore from the tip of my Nose, to the tip of my Toe - as if I had been roling on a quick set-hedge - or stung to death by a swarm of bees at a Hampshire Farmers [an allusion to Cobbett's pen]". Behind Fox, and in profile to the left, Moira, in uniform, with cocked hat and jack-boots, sits up, very erect; he says: "What are Cannons or Bombs or clashing of swords, compared to the pain I endure." Windham, next Sheridan, registering melancholy, says: "I feel more uneasy than if the whole Volunteer force was upon me." Ellenborough, behind Sheridan and Windham, ill-temperedly puts his hand to his wig. Erskine, also in wig and gown, reclines as if exhausted, his eyes closed, his attitude characteristic of his notorious fainting in court (see British Museum Satires No. 7956). He and Grey (Lord Howick from 11 Apr.), who sits behind him, are in profile to the right; the latter says: "It is just such a bed, as I expected the late bungling bed makers would leave us." On the extreme right little Lord Henry Petty (wearing his Chancellor of the Exchequer's gown) sits up, angrily holding above his head two handfuls of thorn-branches. He says: "I shall never have done clearing the brambles and Nettles from this Bed, my Budget would not hold one half of them." The low frame of the bed is carved and has a valance of fringed and festooned draperies. At the head are the Royal Arms; looped curtains are suspended above it."--British Museum online catalogue

Print shows a hideous old maid standing at right before her chair, supported on a crutched stick, as she addresses a comic doctor at left, who faces her, much disconcerted, with his gold-headed cane pressed to his chin. Her dress is antiquated, with high-heeled shoes; one foot is swollen with "Gout", the other with "Chilblains", and is also distorted with "Corns". Her person and costume are covered with the names of diseases in appropriate places: "Lightness" (on a feather nodding from her head), "Head Ache", "Stupor", "Dizziness", "Palsy", "Ague", "Sore Throat", "St Vit. Dance", "Asthma", . etc. Medicine bottles on a table beside her are labelled "Miss Grunt" and "T- Grunt". A little dog, shaved in the French manner, barks at the doctor. The room is a comfortably furnished parlour, with an iron balcony outside a window reaching to the floor, with a background of trees
