Title devised by curator., Unsigned; questionable attribution to John Chute from local card catalog record., Date based on death date of Horace Walpole, who assembled the extra-illustrated volume in which this drawing is mounted., Two drawings on separate sheets, mounted together one above the other., Annotations accompany the vignettes in the drawings, with "circular room 12 feet high" written in pencil across top of uppermost drawing. Also in the upper drawing, "eight stools" is written in ink next to a circular design, and the notes "fret work inside of roof" and "low head boards pierced ..." are written next to two small depictions of a chimneypiece. Title devised by curator., Statement of responsibility written in ink along right edge of sheet., Date of production inferred from other drawings in the album by the same artist, all of which are dated 1776., and Tipped in as page 203 in a volume containing Horace Walpole's extra-illustrated copy of his Description of the villa of Horace Walpole (Hazen 2523) and his Catalogue of pictures and drawings in the Holbein Chamber at Strawberry-Hill (Hazen 2619.4). Part of the collection: Portfolio containing 50 drawings by Lady Diana Beauclerk and her daughter Mary, Miss Sebright, Miss Knight, Mrs. Damer, John Gooch, Samuel Lysons, Sir Edward Walpole, and Thomas Walpole (Hazen 3641).
Collection of twelve 19th-century Anglo-Indian representations of traditional Indian clothing for various trades and stations of life, each captioned below with the subject's occupation. Included are two female subjects, 'My Ayah or Lady's Maid' and a water bearer, alongside ten male subjects. Among the depicted males are a 'Native Officer', 'A Peon or Policeman', and a 'Moonshee or Teacher of Languages', the latter having the only geographical indication of origin ('Bangalore' given to its verso).

Title devised by curator., Printmaker identified as Edward Haistwell in the British Museum online catalogue, registration no.: 1931,0413.205., Identification of printmaker is confirmed by a letter, pasted above print in album, from Richard Bull to Horace Walpole. In sending the print to Walpole, Bull mentions that it was "engrav'd by Mr. Haistwell, formerly a fellow commoner of C.C.C. College Cambridge [sic]"., Print signed with "CCCC", which probably stands for "Corpus Christi College, Cambridge", where Edward Haistwell was a fellow commoner., and Mounted on page 19 in volume 2 of Horace Walpole's collection of amateur works entitled: A collection of prints engraved by various persons of quality.
