- "The coffin is placed on trestles next to a four-poster bed (the deathbed of a rich man?). The lid of the coffin bears an elaborate brass plaque inscribed "Mr Gripe departed this life Ague" (last word indistinct). Arising from out of the coffin, Mr. Gripe disturbs the woman who was reading a large book (presumably a business ledger). - Charles Fox, in strait jacket, with unruly hair and a wild look on his face, is examined by Dr. Monro, the physician to Bedlam, who looks at him through a quizzing glass. Fox confesses that his troubles come from loosing his place, i.e., the fall of the Fox-North Coalition, while Dr. Monro pronounces him an incurable.
