Abstract:
Two fashionably dressed poets sit at a table ladling a drink into small glasses. Twelve lines of verse below design: No more shall we sneak, or fearfully speak, lest coffee house critics should snap off each nose, for all shall be witty, ingenious and pretty, the bays are our own, since we've got some new cloathes!! What tho! we want coin, let us never repine (tis one of a bards hereditary woes) so I'll fill up each glass, then quick let them pass, and a fig for the rest, since we've got some new clothes!

A man stands in a room holding a caduceus decorated comic mask, saying ''When I do stare, see how the subjects quacke'." He is surrounded with bills and a bag of coins on the table, both suggesting corruption. At sign hanging from the table reads "Alexandrian Memorial, A loss is no benefit. No committee." Below on the floor, another discarded scroll reads "Rejected with prejudice." At his foot is an animal (a fox?) holding a sign "Designs [ca]refully copied, civilly returned, and he carries in his hand a piece of paper "I perceive the trick & will avoid the cheat. Na-th." Behind him hangs a sign, "The exact-u-trick is safe or 22d Sept." On the wall is a picture of the facade of a theater. Probably a satire on an unidentified theater manager

"The interior of a breeches-maker's shop or workroom. Two men standing, one on a chair, the other on a stool, are attempting to pull up the very tight breeches of a stout man, who is lifted from the ground by their efforts. A stout woman enters from the right holding a pair of breeches under her arm. On the wall is a placard: 'Ramskin, Elastic Spring Breeches Maker They set close to the Hips and never alter their Shape which Thousands can Testify Likewise a large & curious assortment of Breeches Balls Straps Boot Garters &c &c &c.' "Emblematical title-page to a set of prints on the Opposition. A fire burns on an altar of quasi-classical shape, on which is the title; apes' heads take the place of rams' heads, and a garland of laurel is bound with tricolour ribbon. At the base of the altar lies a cornucopia in the form of a bonnet-rouge transformed into a fool's cap terminating in a bell (cf. BMSat 8644). From it pour emblems of gods and goddesses: Thunderbolts tied with tricolour, an owl, grapes, caduceus, bow and arrows, hammer and pincers, trident, lyre, club, two doves on a shield with the head of Medusa.
