Abstract:
Manuscript on paper (sturdy but of uneven weight; no watermarks, wavering chain-lines ca. 53 mm. apart) of a collection of excerpts from Biblical commentaries and sermons by patristic writers. Mainly drawn from Remigius of Auxerre, Expositio super Matthaeum; and Bede, Expositio super Lucam. Also includes texts by Leo, Gregory, Gualterus Anglicus, Augustine, Anselm, Ambrose, and Boethius. Sermons written for feast days and about the Passion of Christ.

Binding: Date? Square, flush boards. Trimmed out turn-ins suggest a late date. Covered in vellum with contents and a compass-drawn circle on lower cover., Initials (3-line), paragraph marks, underlining and strokes on 1-line capitals in red., and Script: Written mostly by one scribe, perhaps over a period of time, in a small gothic book hand with many abbreviations. Additions by slightly later hands in more or less formal script, e.g. ff. 1v, 3r-5v, 87v-105v.

XIV"., Rubrics on ff. 2r-6v by same scribe who copied text; another hand added rubrics on f. 1r-v. Description:
Binding: ca. 1900. Pasteboard covered with large sections of two parchment leaves from a 15th-century antiphonary (?) from Germany, with Hufnagel notation on 4-line staves traced in black, brown and red. The handwriting is Gothica Textualis Formata. The leaf on the rear cover has the folio number “208”., Script: Copied by one hand in early Gothica Textualis Libraria., and Space for headings not used. A red line-filler on f. 21v. Plain initials of 1-3 lines in red, located partially in the text, partially in the margin, at the beginning of all artt. (except artt. 4, 6 and 12); in art. 1 also at the beginning of the text itself. The words after an initial generally in majuscules; other words often in majuscules are “Maria”, “rex Salomon”, “Amen”.

1-line red versals and 2-line red plain initials. Two large initials: f. 1r, at the beginning of the text of art. 1, historiated 10- line initial in pink on a blue background, containing a half-length profile of a poet or teacher in outline with a yellow dress; f. 10r, at the beginning of art. 2, decorated 9-line initial in pinkon a blue background, filled with red, yellow and green leaves., Binding: Original half brown leather binding over heavy bevelled wooden boards; sewn on two split leather thongs; the spine damaged. Remnants of one strap attached to the front cover, with iron pin on the rear cover., Due to intensive use the pages are badly rubbed and the legibility is impaired; whole passages have been rewritten by a later hand. The corners of the leaves are worn off. Holes and sewings., and Script: Copied by one hand in large Southern Gothica Textualis Formata (Rotunda). The opening majuscule of each verse set off in a separate column.
