Manuscript, on parchment, incomplete, containing the remains of a book of hours, probably Use of Rome. All illuminations have been excised and there are few complete sections except for the Penitential Psalms (63r-75v) and the Office of the Dead (82r-112v). These texts are followed by two prayers to Saint Lazarus in Latin (113v- 115r ). Folios 115v-116v contain a personal narrative in French by Sister Collette d'Oisellet of the Hospice of Beaune, the owner of the volume. She describes being miraculously healed from paralysis in 1497 at Autun cathedral through the relics of Saint Lazarus; an annotation records her decision to remain at the Hospice of Beaune to care for the poor. Her account is followed by two additional prayers, also in French

Manuscript on parchment of a Book of Hours. With Calendar, Fifteen Joys of the Virgin, and Seven Requests, all in French
Description:
In Latin and French., Script: Written in liturgical gothic bookhand in two sizes, by a single scribe. Prayers (ff. 1r-2v, 49r-v, 101r-103r) added in an informal batarde script, apparently by a single person., The manuscript originally contained the full complement of miniatures; their removal (following ff. 8, 13, 22, 33, 37, 39, 41, 43, 45, 49, 61, 64, and 87) is indicated by stubs, missing bifolios and breaks in the text. The remaining decoration consists of compartmentalized borders typical of late 15th-century Rouen manuscripts. One full border (f. 3r) in red bounding lines with pink and blue acanthus leaves on a gold ground, alternating with flowers and strawberries on parchment ground, filled in with black and gold dots; three borders (ff. 4r, 6r, 7r) in outer margin only. 3/4 band borders (with 5- and 4- line initials); single bands in outer margin (with 2-line initials); additional small bands occur when 2-line initial is on a recto. Borders are traced whenever they occur on recto and verso of same leaf; all with blue and gold acanthus leaves, flowers on parchment ground, filler as for full border. Many pages have no border. Initials, 5-, 4-, 2-, and 1-line, gold, on blue and red grounds with white highlights; 4-line initials, blue on a gold ground, filled with red and blue trilobe leaves in lattices; the 2-line initials occasionally with a narrow border in inner margin with flowers, black hair-spray, and gold dots (red bounding lines). Ribbon and quatrelobe line-fillers in gold, blue, and red, highlighted in white. Rubrics in orange-tinted red. Calendar has months, dates, and important feasts in gold; other feasts alternately in blue and red. Most spaces for initials within the added prayers have not been filled., and Binding: Seventeenth century. Dark red goatskin, gold-tooled, with a smooth spine.

Manuscript on parchment. Formerly known as the "Fouquet Missal", based on the mistaken attribution of the illumination to Fouquet
Description:
In French., Script: Written by a single scribe in formal gothic bookhand., A richly decorated manuscript with an unusual and elaborate program of miniatures by at least four artists: the Master of the Vienna Mamerot, Jean Colombe, a hand close to the Masters of Morgan 96 and 366, and a fourth artist whose hand has not yet been identified in other manuscripts. Each large miniature (107 total) has a full border incorporating four marginal scenes (428 in all) with subjects which either amplify or follow closely from the action of the miniature, disposed with two rectangular scenes in the outer border and two roundels in the lower border. The subsidiary miniatures, framed in red, are surrounded by blue and gold acanthus, flowering vines in green, blue and red, ivy in black pen with gold dots, large, naturalistic flowers, and black hair-spray with gold dots. The borders are framed on the outer edges with a red bounding line, on the inner edges with a red or gold bounding line., 4- and 2-line initials throughout, shaded pink or blue with gold foliate decoration against blue or pink grounds with pink or blue curling leaves, heightened in gold. 1-line initials, gold, against pink or blue grounds with gold filigree. On ff. 6r-13v the 4- and 2-line initials, as well as line-fillers in the same manner, are painted over blue or red initials with red or blue penwork and line fillers in red, blue and gold. The overpainting of this archaizing decoration reflects a change in decorative scheme rather than an interval of three-quarters of a century between the writing and the illumination of the manuscript. Rubrics and some underlining in red throughout., and Binding: Nineteenth century. Quarter bound in brown goatskin. Blue/green cloth sides with silver fastenings and fittings. On fastenings small roundels with portraits of the evangelists; on clasp a roundel with Annunciation. Numerous Turk's head place-marks on fore edge. Earlier covers, 17th century, mounted inside boards.
