The border consists of blessings for the bride and groom written in Hebrew block letters. There is a French stamp on the top left hand corner. The text refers to the groom as ""Ish ma'aravi,"" a man whose family came from Morocco. The ketubah is dated and is signed by two witnesses, however the names of the bride and groom have not been filled in. According to the scholar Moshe Bar-Asher, French Algerian law did not permit the completion of the ketubah before the secular marriage license.
