Abstract:
The countess is shown swooning in a chair in her father's house near London Bridge (seen through the window on the left). At her feet a bottle with a label "laudanum" alongside an execution broadside tells us that Silvertongue has been hanged for killing her husband and that she has attempted suicide. Her young child (wearing a leg brace as a result of congenital syphilis) is held up for a last kiss by an old woman, while her father removes her wedding ring. An apothecary strikes the simple-minded servant for procuring the laudanum; a doctor leaves by a door to right. Fire buckets line the hallway. The floor of the room is bare; a heavy chair near a table is overturned, a starving dog chewing at the calf's head on the table. Other decorations include a weight-driven wall-clock, the paintings of Dutch peasant subjects and a man relieving himself against a wall, and a set of ledgers indicates that accounts are kept up to date

Elegant and affluent customers enjoy ices in a grand room in London's fashionable St. James's. The female server behind the counter is elegantly dressed and looks with ease out of the window. A finely dressed gentleman leans against the counter at right, spooning ice cream into his mouth from a glass he holds in his left hand; his hat, gloves, and stick are carefully arranged on a chair next him. Two women are seated at the left side of the counter, one holding an ice cream glass and spoon. A classical fireplace on the right has additional glasses arranged upon it. A great craze in 18th-century Britain, amongst the wealthy, was ice cream. Establishments such as The Pineapple on Berkeley Square (close by St James’s), owned by Domenico Negri, offered "All Sorts of Ice, Fruits & Creams" (see the elaborate trade card in the British Museum). This print was intended as a companion piece to "Refreshment at St. Giles's" which, in contrast, shows two women and a man being served gin by a female proprietor from a makeshift and run-down bar

Abstract:
"Sheridan, a candle in each hand, shambles before the royal party, ushering them through the theatre and looking over his shoulder with an expression of exasperated anxiety. The King, in back view, turns to the Queen, saying, "I like the Author very much - took him for a Jacobin - no such thing - quite a different man - brim full of loyalty - I'll certainly come again!!" Behind the pair Salisbury, the Lord Chamberlain, walks stiffly, holding his staff and wearing his gold key. He is followed by one of the Princesses (Augusta Sophia), walking with the Prince of Orange, whose portly contour and sulky profile with closed eye appear on the extreme left. Through the door (probably that from the box lobby) Fox is seen holding a constable's staff and saying to the crowd, anxious to see the arrival: "Stand away there, don't stop up the passage you pack of Jacobin Rascals"."--British Museum online catalogue

Abstract:
In a large room of an employment agency, prospective employers interview their potential hires. At the extreme right is a desk with the manager of the agency sitting behind it . On the desk is large open volume entitled "Order from Covent Garden for tid-bits". Next to it lies a note, "To Mr. Double Face, Statute Hall." In the foreground, next to the desk, a young man and woman sit on a bench waiting their turn. Numerous pairs around the room conduct interviews, including an older woman examining the face of a young manservant; a macaroni feeling the bosom of a maidservant; an old woman in spectacles poking the chest of a large coachman with a whip in his hand; a bishop leering at a young woman holding a box under her arm; and a pair in the background on the left holding a paper "Hell Fire Jack at the Bedford". In the background on the far right two young women stand against the wall, under an advertisement: "Two ladies want places with single gentlemen willing to do any thing." Other advertisements hang on the back wall
