The gardens are central, and town buildings stand on either side of them. There is a truck on the lefthand side and some people walking in the gardens. There is a handwritten note on the back of this postcard.
“Un groupe de Mpanjono.” (A group of anglers). Au profit de la Mission des Religieuses de la Providence, a Madagascar.” A missionary sister on horseback is shown surrounded by a group of young men, possibly ne’er-do-wells, from the town. The following information is printed on the back of the postcard: “Mission des Religieuses de la Providence à Madagascar, Procures: Couvent de la Providence, Corenc (Isère), ou Mère Berckmans, Providence St-Germain, La Tronche (Is.).” There is no handwriting on the back.
Also included in the International Mission Photography Archive., From the collection of the Hartwell family, American Baptist missionaries serving in China between 1858 and the 1940s., and Town called 'Head of the Dyke' north west of Shaoshing. [now Shaoxing]. Small buildings surround a body of water with mountains in the background. There is a large stack of bamboo poles in the water near the shore and boats on the water.

A number of clay pots lie on the ground around the pool of a natural spring.
