(London, 1598). 3) Two extracts. (1) De placito forestarum. B. Thorpe, ed., Ancient Laws and Institutions of England ( London, 1840), p. 228; (2) Dialogus de Scaccario, W. Stubbs, ed., Select Charters and other Illustrations of English Constitutional History (Oxford, 1913), pp. 221-222. 4) Consuetudines et assisa de foresta. 5) Ordinatio forestae., Script: written in Gothica Cursiva Currens (Secretary), often difficult to read. In Spanish., Script: Written well above the lines in a bold and round Southern Gothica Textualis Formata with typical Spanish features. The scribe added decorative designs in upper and lower margins., The illumination consists of 7- to 10-line initials on a square background (ff. 2v , 10v, 25r, 27r, 28v) and the following pictures: f. 1v, full-page miniature showing a couple and their five children in adoration for the Virgin in the Sun, in a decorative frame; f. 2r, full-page miniature, showing a victorious king (Philip II) on horseback, with his army in the background, trampling upon a defeated enemy; below is an oval shield containing three rocks and three trees, the whole in a decorative frame; f. 6r (Alonso Perez, witness), 10-line historiated initial with St. Alphonsus; f. 8r (Alonso Martin Garrido, witness), 9-line historiated initial with St. Alphonsus; f. 17r (Hernando Verdugo, witness), 9-line historiated initial with the Holy Spirit as a dove; f. 20v (Francisco de Robles), 9-line historiated initial with St. Francis receiving the stigmata., and Binding: Red velvet over cardboard. The pastedowns are two large engravings, one picturing the Beatitudes, the other the Creed.

Issued in Salamanca, 1487. Seal missing. Part II (paper): Numerous documents (all dated 1686) concerning a law suit involving Don Diego Tinagero Rodriguez de la Escalera of Seville, a descendent of Alfonso Rodriguez

In Spanish., Script: Part I (ff. 3-13): Round gothic script by a single scribe. Part II (ff. 19-74): Written in various cursive hands., Folios 1v and 2r have crudely illuminated full-page miniatures, 17th century. Folio 1v: members of the Rodriguez family offering prayers to the Madonna and Child. Folio 2r: arms of the Tinagero Rodriguez de la Escalera family. Crude decorative border on f. 3v and REY (in gold, outlined in black) may be later additions., Many of the documents included appear to have once been folded. Some loss of text due to trimming., and Binding: Eighteenth century (?). Thin wooden boards covered with dark brown leather, flesh side out. Vermilion and green ribbon fastenings.

"Scene in a country town with two newly-elected members of parliament (one a representation of George Bubb Doddington, the other visible only as a shadow on a distant wall) carried shoulder-high along the street, led by a blind and ragged fiddler and surrounded by a chaotic and disreputable crowd; two chimney boys sit on the church wall, a dancing-bear interferes with a donkey's load and is about to be clubbed by the driver, the one-legged bear-leader (dressed in sailor's clothes) is engaged in a fight with a man swinging a flail, a rifle slung over a monkey's shoulder discharges to the horror of a black serving woman, a sow and her piglets up-end a woman as they charge across the street, a soldier stripped to the waist for a boxing bout is taking tobacco from a wrapper; to right, dishes of food are being carried into an elegant house where victory is being celebrated."--British Museum online catalogue

Manuscript, in a single hand, of a collection of about 85 copies of primarily political documents pertaining to events between 1592 and 1632. The volume includes speeches and letters relating to the murder of Thomas Overbury and the trial of Walter Raleigh; a description of voyage to France to aid the Huguenot cause in 1626-7 and seige of La Rochelle; a factual account, with figures, of fighting in Thirty Years' War; "The examinations of the counterfett ghost that came into St James on fryday night the 13 of 9br 1612, beeing that day sennight after Prince Harries death," whose testimony was taken by Sir Thomas Chaloner and Sir John Holles; and the confession of Anne Lady Ross to the Star Chamber declaring that she had perjured herself by "accusing the said Right Honorable Countess of Exeter with an intent & purpose to poison" her. The volume also contains a copy of the will of Holles' father, Thomas Holles of Haughton, dated 17 March 1592 and "written in his owne hand"; and "A prayer wch my deere sister Wentworth did use, coppied from her owne hand, wch I had of my mother 24th Jan. 1631."

Larger initials with some flourishing at the beginning of each work., and Binding: Eighteenth century (?). White parchment over cardboard. On the spine the title is written "Panormit: de' Fatti d'Alfonso, e Pontano del Princip: MS." and at the bottom, partly worn off, the early shelf-mark "Cass. 1 58 an (?) x9".
