An angry cleric, in shovel hat and apron, stands with a bundle of sticks under his arm; he says : 'I'll have every tenth throw.' "Paul Pry", one hand resting on his umbrella, stoops forward, about to throw a stick topped by a little figure of Wellington as a coachman, touching his hat, as in British Museum Satires No. 15731; his face is hidden by his raised arm. Behind him, three men confer conspiratorially, each with a stick, inscribed respectively 'Chronicle', 'Times', 'Herald'. Caption title., Handbill with ornamental border, printed in gold., Possibly issued by the Protestant Union as they had a copy printed in gold on vellum for presentation to the Duke., The Duke of York declared his opposition to any Catholic concession with a speech in the House of Lords was greeted by anti-Emancipationists as the charter of their cause. Following the Duke’s intervention, emancipation for Catholics had to wait for the Catholic Relief Act passed in 1829., and For further information, consult library staff.
"On the floor of a room are six pieces of blue Delft china in the shape of men and women. Descriptions are etched beneath the design, headed "Scene Delft. Dramatis Personae", the first (left) being, "Mynheer Van Vase of an Ancient Etruscan Family long since broken to pieces by ye vile Visigoths in deep love with Miss Cruet but discarded by her". On the walls are pictures in the Dutch manner, two portraits, a still life and a landscape, and in the back wall is a casement window.
