- Abstract:
- "A fight between Lyndhurst and Peel with Ellenborough and Wellington as bottle-holders. Lyndhurst (left), in Chancellor's wig and gown, staggers back, arms flung out, at a punch on the nose from Peel who lunges forward, ruthlessly pugnacious. Ellenborough, dressed and behaving as a dandy (in tight-waisted blue coat and white bell-shaped trousers), holding a tubular eau-de-cologne bottle, emblem of the dandy, cf. BM Satires No. 13031, registers alarm, exclaiming, 'Oh! Oh! my dear Lud, take care--he's a terrible hitter--or he'll have your Ludship's dear head in Chancery.' Wellington (right), in uniform with sword, gauntlets, and heavily spurred cavalry boots, says: 'That's it Bob; serve him out--He won't ride rusty after this I know.'"--British Museum online catalogue

- Abstract:
- "The Duchess of St. Albans, immensely fat, florid, and bejewelled, and a stout elderly naval officer wearing loose wide trousers, and apparently doing hornpipe steps, his hands on his hips, dance side by side with rollicking abandon. The others of the set: one man and two ladies on the left and one lady and two men on the right dance rigidly erect, and watch the central pair with hauteur; the men are dandies, the women slim and fashionable. The duchess has a swirling paradise-plume in her towering loops of hair, above tossing ringlets."--British Museum online catalogue

- Description:
- Title etched below image., Print signed using William Heath's device: A man with an umbrella., British Museum curator's note: The naval officer is (unconvincingly) identified by E. Hawkins as Sir George Warrender (1782-1849), a Huskissonite M.P. who was never in the navy; he was a Lord of the Admiralty 1812-22; he appears, in back view, in a "Sketch of a Ball at Almack's, 1815" (Gronow, 'Reminiscences', 1892, ii, frontispiece). Perhaps Lord Amelius Beauclerk (1771-1806), her husband's uncle. Cf. 'Croker Papers', 1884, ii. 200., and Watermark: 1827.

- "Two men stand on the pavement outside a door-way under the pediment of which are the royal arms. Beneath them and over the doorway is inscribed, "Lovejoy, Kings arms Tavern", cf. British Museum Satires No. 4995. This appears to be a representation of the entrance to Covent Garden Theatre. The taller of the two men (left) has snatched off the other's wig, and holds it up in his right hand. In his left hand is his sword, broken off below the hilt; his hat is on the ground. Behind and to the right stands a short stout man with bare shaved head; his hat is in his right hand. The taller man is dressed in the prevailing macaroni fashion and has a certain resemblance to Colman, then part-proprietor and manager of Covent Garden Theatre, see British Museum Satires No. 5064. The wig of the other is of the type worn by 'cits', see British Museum Satires No. 5463."--British Museum online catalogue
