"In a room at the Pavilion Prince Leopold is introduced to Princess Charlotte, a bashful girl holding a skipping-rope in her gloved hands. She is pushed forward by Queen Charlotte (right), lean, ugly, and wearing court dress with a tiara. The Queen holds a large snuff-box inscribed 'Strasbo[urg]' (see British Museum Satires No. 12066) and says: "Go along Scape grace speak kindly to him." The Regent in the doorway on the extreme left propels the prince forward with the end of a crutch, using the other as a support to his gouty left leg. He says: "Courage Man! don't be bashfull!" A garter inscribed 'Honi soit' holds up the bulky covering of his gouty leg. Prince Leopold wears a braided and fur-bordered hussar tunic with tight pantaloons and spurred Hessian boots. His left hand is on the hilt of a large sabre, and he holds his heavily plumed and tasselled shako before his face. He says: "Madam I have no money, but I'm of the right breed, true German, an blood Royal." The Princess answers: "I had rather you was English! but a German husband is better than none." Both stand with flexed knees and lowered eyes. Behind Princess Charlotte is a much-festooned window looking on to the sea. Dragons dominate the decorations of the room, and, as in British Museum Satires No. 12754, the Regent's crutches. They support the curtains, a window-seat, and a console-table (right) where a large china mandarin sits with his back reflected in a wall-mirror; below it is a large Chinese jar. "A courtesan stands at a wash-tub, washing her last shift. She wears a cap over ringlets in curl-papers and a tattered petticoat, a shawl covers her naked shoulders. The room is squalid, with plaster falling from the bricks. Across the fireplace stockings hang on a string to dry. The corner of a bed appears on the right. On the table by the wash-tub is a small gin tankard. Under it is a pair of stays. A cat tries to reach a (broken) plate of cheese on a chair. On the floor, beside a fashionable high-crowned hat, lies a ballad: 'How happy were my days till now...'. Papers are thrust under the vertical bar of the casement window, one inscribed 'Admit Two to the Boxes'. Behind him is another sign "Just published [...]" An older woman with a walking stick approaches the counter on the right, followed by a Black servant and a dog. "John Bull sits full face holding a bowl of soup, between Addington, the cook, and the protesting Windham on the extreme right. On the left Pitt sits in profile to the left before an enormous kitchen fire, over which hangs a giant cauldron; he blows the fire with bellows, saying, 'I dont know how it is - but I manage this Soup business rather awkwardly - I suppose it is from being so much used to the stewing and Broiling line.' Addington, who wears the Speaker's wig with apron and over-sleeves, and holds a long ladle, says: 'Though I say it that made it - you never tasted better soup in your life'. Windham (right) stands in profile to the left his knees flexed, saying, 'O' Mr Bull - Mr Bull - if you have any regard for your Constitution - dont touch it - the Cayen of Jacobinism flavours every spoonful - and the Fire that boil it I consider as a Funeral Pile for all your well wishes - do Johnny take some of my Cheese-parings - they are very wholesome, and easy of Digestion.' John says, his eyes turned towards Addington, his spoon raised to his mouth: 'I don't mind what he says - my Hearty I say it's very good Soup - and a d------d deal better [word erased] than your Gin.
