- Abstract:
- A satire of a Gretna Green marriage, taking place in front of smithy's shop. Erskine, disguised in woman's dress with a huge feathered bonnet over a barrister's wig, holds the right hand of a demure-looking woman, modishly dressed and apparently pregnant. He holds a paper: 'Breach of Promise'. With them are three young children. The smith wears Highland dress; he holds a red-hot bar on the anvil and raises his hammer, saying, "I shall make a good thing of this Piece at last." Erskine says: "I have bother'd the Courts in London many times, I'll now try my hand at the Scotch Bar--as to Miss C-- she may do her worst since I have got my Letters back." The woman says: "Now who dare say, Blacks the White of my Eye." In the background (right) a young woman rushes down a slope towards the smithy, shouting, "Oh Stop Stop Stop, false Man, I will yet seek redress tho you have got back your letters--" Beside her is a sign-post pointing 'To Gretna Green'. A little boy with Erskine's features, wearing tartan trousers, stands on tip-toe to watch the smith; on the ground beside him is a toy (or emblem), a cock on a pair of breeches. A little girl stands by her mother nursing a doll fashionably dressed as a woman, but with Erskine's profile. Another boy with a toy horse on a string stands in back view watching 'Miss C'. Behind the smith is the furnace; on the wall hang many rings: 'Rings to fit all Hands.'

- Abstract:
- "Two adjacent designs: on the left Sheridan drink-sodden and blear-eyed, stoops obsequiously, right hand on heart, hat held low, directed to the right. He says, slyly, "Gentlemen, it is with the most unfeigned submission I present myself to Your Notice, most Humbly requesting your kind suffrages to return me (although unworthy) one of Your representatives for the great City of Westminster, and when I consider whom I succeed, I cannot but sincerly [sic] deplore his loss, but much more so my inadequacy to fill his place, and can only most solemnly promise to exert the utmost of my poor abilities to keep my place." On the right Sheridan with legs astride, hands thrust in his breeches pocket, hat on his head, still drink-sodden and sly, but more alert, says, looking to the left: "Electors, I feel a satisfaction in my own bosom (which I cannot refrain from expressing,) that my transcendant Merit fully entitle me to be chosen your representative, and that you have barely done yourselves justice in returnig [sic] me, why you must have been cursed fools if you had not, & as to that Mr Paul & Mr Cobbett, their speeches are so ungentlemanlike that I do not think it worth my while to answer them, why the fellows say I get drunk one half the day, & lie in bed the other, I dont chuse to answer that, they say I don't pay my Debts Fools! what did I want to get into Parliament for, they say I have never signed those measures since I have been in administration which I so strongly declared necessary while out of Office, this shews their Ignorance! why should I propose reform now when all my Friends have got to be served.""--British Museum online catalogue

- Abstract:
- Print shows three fashionable dandies in a well-furnished room. One (left) sings, seated, and with a leg resting on a second (lyre-backed) chair; he leans sentimentally, hand on heart, towards a lutanist reclining on a (Regency) sofa playing an ornate curiously shaped instrument. The third stands behind the sofa, playing a flageolet, and admiring himself in a mirror above the ornate fireplace. The vocalist holds an open music-book: 'Love has eyes.' On the floor beside him are two others: 'The Lovesick Swain set to Music' and 'Our Warbling Notes and Ivory lutes Shall ravish every ear.' Two whole length portraits flank the mirror, one of a lady in quasi-Elizabethan dress, the other of a man similarly dressed, both having pinched waists and full busts. Below one is a picture of 'Vacuna' [Goddess of rural leisure], a blowzy woman lying under a tree; below the other, a grotesque 'Narcissus' admires his reflection. On the end of the sofa sits a grotesquely clipped (and dandified) poodle suckling puppies

- Print shows a hideous old maid standing at right before her chair, supported on a crutched stick, as she addresses a comic doctor at left, who faces her, much disconcerted, with his gold-headed cane pressed to his chin. Her person and costume are covered with the names of diseases in appropriate places: "Lightness" (on a feather nodding from her head), "Head Ache", "Stupor", "Dizziness", "Palsy", "Ague", "Sore Throat", "St Vit. Dance", "Asthma", . etc. Medicine bottles on a table beside her are labelled "Miss Grunt" and "T- Grunt". A little dog, shaved in the French manner, barks at the doctor. The room is a comfortably furnished parlour, with an iron balcony outside a window reaching to the floor, with a background of trees
