Abstract:
"Full-face portrait of a man walking to right and looking to his right. His right hand is in his coat pocket, his left thrust in his waistcoat. He wears a looped hat, his hair or wig is in a long queue bound with black ribbon. He wears a sword, laced coat, ruffled shirt and cravat, low buckled shoes. A dog of greyhound type walks in front. He resembles portraits of Richard Grenville-Temple, 1st Earl Temple (1711-79)."--British Museum online catalogue

"Majocchi, with brown face, debased features, and villainous squint, grotesquely dressed as a dandy, stands full-face, holding out a large rolled document: 'Orders for the Milan Commission' [see British Museum Satires No. 13755, &c.] and a large purse filled with gold coins: 'Secret Service Money'. He wears a small high-crowned hat: 'made by the Dandy Military Tailor in Pall Mall' [George IV, cf. British Museum Satires No. 13237, &c.]. On the lapels of his coat are two portrait medallions, one of 'Mrs Q' [see British Museum Satires No. 13889], the other of the 'K--g'. From a pocket hangs a long paper: 'Minutes of a conversation with a fat goodlooking Gentleman in Pall Mall on the Day George the III was Buried.' A long cylinder attached (?) to a coat-tail is inscribed 'Perjury . . . Per . . . Perjury'. He wears long trousers of hussar pattern, coat with small tails open over a tight white waistcoat: all his clothes are inscribed 'Government Stores'."--British Museum online catalogue

"Two men stand on the pavement outside a door-way under the pediment of which are the royal arms. Beneath them and over the doorway is inscribed, "Lovejoy, Kings arms Tavern", cf. British Museum Satires No. 4995. This appears to be a representation of the entrance to Covent Garden Theatre. The taller of the two men (left) has snatched off the other's wig, and holds it up in his right hand. In his left hand is his sword, broken off below the hilt; his hat is on the ground. Behind and to the right stands a short stout man with bare shaved head; his hat is in his right hand. The taller man is dressed in the prevailing macaroni fashion and has a certain resemblance to Colman, then part-proprietor and manager of Covent Garden Theatre, see British Museum Satires No. 5064.
