Also contained are the Latin and French poems "Explicit iste liber," "Epistola super huius," "Quam cinxere," "Traitie," "Carmen de variis in amore passionibus," and "Carmen super multiplici viciorum pestilencia.", Manuscript on parchment in Anglicana (Scribes 1 and 2) and Secretary script (Scribe 3). The text is the third recension of the Confessio Amantis, written in 1392-1393.The manuscript was produced around 1400 or the beginning of the fifteenth century in the same manner as the other surviving manuscripts from this time, presumably under the author's supervision., and The text of the manuscript is the third recension of the Confessio Amantis, written in 1392-93. Osborn, 1961., First and third quires wanting., Imperfect: stained by mildew throughout; rubbing; multiple repairs with some loss of text., Rubrications at running titles, initials, Latin commentary., Sir George Meyrick, Bart., who sold the manuscript after his father's death in 1960, said that the manuscript had been in his family's possession for over 100 years and that in 1775 the house was almost destroyed by fire. Many family papers were lost and perhaps it was then that the manuscript became damp and mildewed., and There are red and blue 1-3 line initials at small and large paragraph breaks. Books II (f. 13r), V (76r), VI (125r), VII (140r), and VIII (175v) contain initials with full page demi-vignette borders in gold, red, blue, green, orange, and brown.

Dark brown goatskin, blind-tooled with a light brown gold-tooled label with title "Liber Sententiarum"., Purchased in 1957 from Quaritch, London, by L. C. Witten, who sold it in 1959 to Thomas E. Marston., Red and blue divided initials, 4- to 3-line, for prologue and beginning of books, with penwork designs in the same colors. For other text divisions, 3- to 2-line initials in red or blue with flourishes in opposite color. Distinctio numbers and running headlines in red and blue; rubrics in red. Binding: Nineteenth-century. Tan calf over wooden boards, blind-tooled, with a red gold-tooled label Manuscript. Earlier fastenings covered over. Boards detached., Cataloged from microfilm by Albert Derolez., Crude 3- and 2-line initials in red, the initial on f. 1r with red flourishes. Many small initials not executed. Rubrics and paragraph marks in red, many missing or erased. Guide-letters for rubricator., Library of Arthur Hugh Smith Barry of Marbury Hall (1843-1925; bookplate, with Case 22, Shelf 9). Purchased from S. Harrison Thomson (MS 14, note inside front cover) in 1970, with the Edwin J. and Frederick W. Beinecke Fund., Manuscript on parchment (thin, poor quality). Numerous folios were end pieces; corners and edges have been squared and straightened by adding pieces of coarse paper. Folio 84, very poor quality and thin at the center, was reinforced on verso (blank) with a strip of paper. Written by three (?) scribes in small, neat Anglicana. Scribe 1: ff. 1r-145r, 174r-188v, rubrics and marginal notes throughout, and all catchwords except that for quire XIV. Scribe 2: ff. 145r-173r. One roll with multiple illustrated sheets. and Paper rotulus consisting originally of thirteen folio sheets and half-sheets of differing lengths glued together, averaging 540 mm. in width (lateral margins and broad bordering line in black ink partly trimmed away), slightly defective with small losses at beginning and end; now cut into thirteen sections measuring about 435 x 540 each, except for the last which measures 625 x 540.
