Shelves with Gothic arches line three walls and are filled with books; on the back wall is a large arched window and two small rose windows filled with painted glass. On the far left is the chimney-piece imitated from the tomb of John of Eltham, Earl of Cornwall in Westminster Abbey, over which the painting of The Marriage of Henry VI hangs. In front of the fireplace is a desk on which Mrs. Damer's terra-cotta eagle sits in its glass case.
