- Abstract:
- "George III (l.), just risen from the throne, kicks Grenville from the presence, holding him by the pigtail, and raising the sceptre to smite. Other members of the Ministry flee in confusion, their gestures showing that they also have been kicked. The Kings head, as a sign of respect, is hidden by a pillar in heavy shadow which supports the voluminous canopy over the throne, itself in full light. A large label floats from the King: " - what! - what! - bring in the Papists! - O you cunning Jesuits, you! - what you thought I was like little-Boney & would turn Turk, or any thing? - but if You have no Faith or Conscience - I have!! - ay, & a little Old Protestant Spunk too! - So Out with you all!! - out! - with all your Broad-bottom'd- Popish Plots!!! - Out with you - out! - out! - out!" Grenville wears peer's robes, which fly back, exposing his heavy posteriors (cf. BMSat 10530) to the King's toe. He drops a long scroll: 'Catholic Bill - for bringing the Papists into Power & supporting the Broad bottom Jesuits in their Places for securing the Papists in commanding of the Army & Navy & all the Public offices - .' This tears as it floats over the shoulder of Howick, the mover of the Bill. Grenville is propelled against the massive Ellenborough, who hurries forward with a savage backward glare. The spectacled Buckingham looks up at his brother in dismay. Temple, huge and globular, waddles off, feeling his damaged back. In front of him, Sheridan, as Harlequin (cf. BMSat 9916), slinks off stooping low. In the foreground Petty and Erskine lie on their backs, legs in the air, both in their gowns, Erskine having dropped the Purse of the Great Seal. Behind the nearer figures are (l. to r.): Windham, Moira with both arms raised, and Lauderdale, looking to the left.; next, Sidmouth in full flight, and on the extreme right. a head identified by Miss Banks as Fitzpatrick, but resembling Gillray's Adair. On the back of the throne within a wreath: 'G 3d/ R.' On its r., and on the extreme left., is a stool which supports a cushion on which rest a large 'Bible' and a crown. Behind the throne are the Royal Arms."--British Museum online catalogue

- Abstract:
- "George III, wearing a crown and ermine-trimmed robe is seated in an arm-chair asleep. The tassels of his girdle are thistles, indicative of Scottish influence. Round his neck is a chain from which hangs a cross, indicating the Romanizing tendencies of which he was accused at this time, see BMSat 5534, &c. His crown is being taken from his head by a judge in wig and ermine-trimmed robes, evidently Mansfield. Over the king's shoulder looks a Scot in Highland dress, evidently Bute, holding the sceptre which he has taken from the king's hand. He leans towards Mansfield saying "What shall be done with it?" Mansfield answers, "Wear it Your sel my Leard." On the king's left a man stands who holds in both hands the other side of the crown, he says, "No troth I'se carry it to Charly & hel not part with it again Mon!" He is dressed an an English gentleman, though his language indicates that he is a Scottish Jacobite; he is perhaps intended for some unpopular Scot, perhaps Wedderburn, then attorney-general. Behind the king's chair America, wearing a feathered head-dress, watches the scene; he says "We in America have no Crown to Fight for or Loose." In the foreground (right) sits Britannia asleep, her head resting on her hand; by her side lies the British lion, also asleep and chained to the ground. At her feet are two maps, one of "Great Britain" (torn) lies on one of "America". On the left stands a man in rags with bare legs and dishevelled hair, clasping his hands together and saying "I have let them quietly strip me of every Thing"; he appears to represent the British commercial community. An Irishman next him, a harp under his arm, walks away saying "I'le take Care of Myself & Family". The background to these figures is a hedge; behind it on the right is a Dutchman (the United Provinces) helping himself to the contents of two hives."--British Museum online catalogue

- Abstract:
- "Satire on the resignation of Lord Bute. George III is enthroned, Peace and Fame flying above and a large dog and a lion crouching at his feet; he welcomes the Duke of Newcastle and William Pitt who kneel before him (it was assumed that these two men would return to government, although in the event George Grenville replaced Bute). Britannia is seated in the centre of the print, facing a hydra-headed monster of faction; she is saying "See this and Tremble all you that wish evil to Israel" (Israel standing for England); behind her a Spaniard and a Frenchman despair at their loss. At top left, the Lord Mayor of London (probably intended for William Beckford) and a group of aldermen approach the king with a petition. At top right, a witch flies off on a broomstick over the "Flus Jordanus" to the "Alpes Herbronites" (the River Tweed and Scotland) carrying Henry Fox, two other ministers and the devil. One of the ministers wishes that "the Devil had the Author of Gisbal" (see BM Satires 3848) alluding to the role of the satirists in driving Bute to resign. Charles Churchill and John Wilkes fire at the broomstick, Wilkes wanting "One Pounce more and we will bring that Irish Owl to the Ground". In the foreground, on the right, Princess Augusta runs off carrying a diminutive Bute in a large boot on her back; she is chased by the Duke of Cumberland brandishing a sword and crying "Damn the Scotch Loon he flies faster than his Bretheren did in 45. If I come up with him I'll spoil his Running"; the young Duke of York runs with him. On the left, a group of sailors harrass a Scotsman declaring,"We will stand by our Noble Captain till not a Sawney be feft in the Land", "O O Jack see what this Dog has got to wet his Whistle with" and "Lend me your Sneaker [a rod] Tom I'll Probe him who knows but the Rascal has got his Belly full"; coins fall from the bagpipes clutched beneath the Scotsman's arm."--British Museum catalogue
