Six scenes narrating the fuss caused by a man's progression from minor cold to supposed major illness and then sudden recovery. The man's initial plea for nursing with his cold leads onto the summoning of a doctor and procurement of an abundance of potions. The terminal illness which seems to develop throws the houshold into grief-stricken turmoil and the doctors into confusion. The patients miraculous recovery naturally surprises everyone. Above the scenes is a skeleton emerging from a doctors' hat holding a cane and medicine bottle

"The crowded cabin tilts to the right, to the dismay of a family party dining at a table in the foreground. There is a second table in the background with a meal in progress. The cabin is bordered on left and right by two tiers of berths, apparently for two persons, set in panelling, and with curtains festooned along the upper edge. These are filled by suffering travellers. A bench runs along the front of the berths; other passengers sit on camp-stools. Phases of misery, discomfort, resignation, and (by exception) complacency are realistically illustrated.
