In the foreground the doorway on the right gives a partial view of the second room containing two printing presses. A man can be seen working the common press for printing the letterpress text; to the left are two of the handles of the star-wheel of a rolling press for printing intaglio plates (copper plates); above, sheets of printed paper have been hung to dry on lines strung across the room.
